Author Comments:
I'm a major bookaholic, & will read anything that catches my interest. This includes graphic novels, which I also list here.
* reread

You read much faster than me.
I only get through approximately 20-25 per year.
Books I Plan To Read in 2006
Well, I also tend to read two or three at once, for whatever insane reason.:]
Two or three at once? No one can live at that speed!
So what did you think of Sirena?
If I only read one at a time, it's over too quickly. Even though it doesn't sound like it, I do savor each & every book that I read as a delicacy.
Sirena was interesting. I liked the author's take on the whole siren legend. I like it when someone decides to take a more personal look at a well-known story, & especially from someone on the other side: what happened to bring them to that point? Some people aren't as good, or as bad, as they seem. As much as I hate endings like the one of Sirena, it really couldn't have ended much differently. It worked.
Some mythical retellings work for me (Gregory Maguire's Wicked), and some fall flat (every single chick lit book retelling the Cinderella story. Just. Stop.) It's a fine line.
Also? Thanks for not telling me the ending. :D
Yes, Cinderella has been done to death. But it will probably continue to be done into & beyond the zombie stage.
Tried reading Wicked, but I just couldn't get through it. An interesting twist on the original story, though.
I didn't know you hadn't read the book, but you're welcome.:) Though I haven't read them, I think Napoli has written some other retellings.
