Books I've Read in '05 - the ones I remember

Tags:
  • The Idea of Japan - non-fic, takes on American perception, social mores, it's a keeper, one I'd like to share
  • Princess Bride - Yes, I bought this children's classic for my sister, then promptly borrowed it.
  • Time Traveller's Wife - by Audrey Nifenneger; I didn't really like, though I wanted to, because the writing's quite good. It was unsettling in a drop-kick awfulness.
  • Wicked - Right/Wrong - is there any question? For the author there is. I'd still like to see the musical, though.
  • Comic Crime - an anthology of short stories by celebrated crime novelists, columnists, and a couple classic authors. It's not really funny; some irony, some quirks, but it's really rather dark.
  • Doo-Dah! - Biography of Steven Foster, American Popular Song Composer/Performer. I haven't actually read it yet, but bought hardback copy on ebay, so it's a sure thing
  • Mulliner Nights - by P.G. Wodehouse; the English exploits of Mr. Mulliner's varied relatives, presented with a strong sense of making fun, and wry wit. This book has kept me company on a few bus rides of late
