feel free to give me more ideas

Out of this list, I have only read three books.
The Metamorphosis: quite difficult to read, but somehow fascinating.
East of Eden: A real masterpiece. GREAT!
Catcher in the Rye: Mesmerizing.
I've read Metamorphosis and Catcher In The Rye, and I agree with 1922 on both.
I've also read:
I, Robot - totally original and groundbreaking for it's time.
Brave New World - OK, I read this a long time ago and it wasn't very memorable
Gabriel Garcia Marquez - One Hundred Years of Solitude - it felt like it took a hundred years to get through. I didn't enjoy it at all. I prefer either great stories or great characters/characterisations in books, and this had neither.
I also have on my list of books to read:
Pride and Prejudice
Watership Down
John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men (I'm currently reading The Grapes of Wrath)
