Best Unreleased Albums

  • Or: Musical Masterpieces Waiting to Happen. These are what I'd like to see follow recent landmarks like Kid A. If I ever have enough money, talent, and motivated, brilliant companions, I'll record these myself.

  • Kid's Sunrise Puppets - A fusion of Master of Puppets, trance (especially the type represented by In Search of Sunrise), and Kid A. Sounds impossible, but some genius could pull it off. I imagine it'd sound something like Transmutator's cover of Metallica's 'Orion' done with the experimentation of 'Everything In It's Right Place.' It'd be entirely instrumental, of course. Essentially, it'd be a (slow) 80s heavy metal album at heart, blanketed in trance pads and effects, and making use of the shifts, inversions, intelligence, surprise, and wacked-out sounds of Kid A.

  • 1st Symphony - A true neoclassical heavy metal epic. No vocals, very little oft-repeating song structure, and all the movement and genius of Beethoven's 9th Symphony - done with effects-laden guitars. Orchestral flourishes and atmosphere would be accomplished with My Bloody Valentine-esque walls of guitar sound, softened by mixing with some electronic instruments. Dream Theater would be perfect to record this (with help from someone else), but they're moving in the wrong direction right now.

  • Lorem Ipsum - Jazz piano laid on a flowing wall of sound similar to the instrumentation in TV on the Radio's 'Blind'. Vocals would consist of heavily chopped & remixed samples from early Standards vocalists like Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee.

Suggestions welcome! What awesome but daring concept album would you like to see?

How about Songs From A Black Hole by Weezer never got out...

guess I tricked you a little too well with the shamelessly deceptive title. Read: "Or: Musical Masterpieces Waiting to Happen. These are what I'd like to see follow recent landmarks like Kid A. If I ever have enough money, talent, and motivated, brilliant companions, I'll record these myself."
