Good teachers are insane. They show up at 7am, work until 6pm, then go home and work more. They spend their own money to buy the materials they need to do their job, even though they get paid diddly-squat. And all this to put up with a bunch of screaming kids, inept politicians, and hostile parents. I know -- I'm married to one.

Nonetheless, here's a sampling of the better movies dealing with the subject.

its about a teacher dealing with gang memebers and trouble makers in school, it was written by a teacher and stars Samuel L Jackson.

What about Blackboard Jungle (1955)? It's a really good movie about a teacher played by Glenn Ford who goes to a new school to teach because he wants to make a difference in the lives of the kids that he teaches but this school is full of thugs who don't want to learn, led by Vic Morrow. The movie also stars Sidney Poitier
