The bands listed are only bands that I know of within the Power Metal genre and actually like on some level. Any add-ons are much appreciated & comments welcome!
Help me out here. What is power metal? It seems to me that it is like saying the same thing twice.

Just gotta say: Nightwish rules. Too bad they got rid of Tarja (the lead singer). I'm waiting anxiously for them to anounce a replacement; they have a new album coming out this year. Other great bands:
Stratovarius
Hammerfall
Dragonforce
Don't forget Helloween, one of the earlier Power Metal bands. Check out their song Shade in the Shadow, it's pretty awesome. Nightwish is often more along the lines of symphonic metal, so if you like them you'd probably also like some Epica, they sound sort of Lord of the Rings meets the electric guitar =D
