- Best Guitarist~ Jimmy Page: I can hear people yelling at me already. But I frankly think so. I think Hendrix was great, I love him to death but I think Page is better. More diverse sound and I think he played better stuff and was almost as influential. Honorable mention to Pat Methany, John McLaughlin, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa.
- Best Bass Guitarist~ Jaco Pastorius: Undisputable. Vic Wooten is badass (saw him LIVE) and is good, but if there weren't a Jaco Pastorius, there'd be no Vic Wooten. Everything Vic does takes a page out of Jaco's book. Besides, Vic's playing almost becomes musical masturbation at a point in that it loses meaning, but Jaco just paints pictures in your mind. Honorable mention to Vic Wooten and Les Claypool.
- Best Double Bassist~ Edgar Meyer: As a double bassist myself (as well as a guitarist, bass guitarist, harmonica and mandolinst) This dude blew me away. I don't know if he plays jazz, but he could do great stuff with it. He rocks out on Classical or Folk, playing his bass like a fiddle. Honorable mention to jazzers Charles Mingus and John Patitucci.
- Best Banjoist~ Béla Fleck: Don't even try to argue that one. Who could you possibly name? Earl Scruggs? Nope, sorry chap, Béla is badass. Who else plays Jazz and classical banjo? He is from my town and plays live here frequently, and grew up down the street from my high school (random note; Jim Varney AKA Ernest went to my High school)
- Best Sax player~ Charlie Parker: Bird is the man. He could blow some horn. It was hard to choose with all the sax greats out there, so Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane get CLOSE runner-ups. Wayne Shorter is no push-over either.
- Best Trumpet Player~ Miles Davis: I want to say Dizzy Gilespie, but I just enjoy Miles more. The simplicity really appeals to me. Sorry that I can't judge any classical players, but Jazz trumpet is all I know.
- Best Pianist~ Thelonious Sphere Monk: Sorry, again all I know is jazz piano. If you haven't heard, or seen this man play, you haven't lived. He is phenominal. He plays like a child, and its that simplicity mixed with his expirience and emotion that makes it so enjoyable. Check him out. Honorable mentions to Count Basie, Herbie Hancock, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder (the dude is BLIND and still really good)
- Best Drummer~ Buddy Rich: I've asked alot of drummer to give me thier thoughts and all say hands down Buddy. I agree he's great, but I'm pretty rythem-retarded, so its hard for me to tell what's impressive and what's not, because it all is to me. So I would Gene Krupa, John Bonham, and Billy Cobham would get honorable mentions.
- Best Harmonica Player~ Mickey Raphael: He plays with Willy Nelson and sometimes Dave Matthews and he's amazing. I wish i had his tone....big props to John Popper too of course.
- Best Slide Guitar Player~ Duane Allman: The guy's just a master at it. Blows me away every time I hear him. Muddy Waters is also a great choice.
- Best Violinist~ Itzhak Perlman: In case you've don't know him or never heard the story, he's crippled from polio, and once at a concert before he started performing one of his strings broke, and he went ahead and played the concerto minus one string. He didn't miss a note, and used his tuning pegs to hit outside notes and he's phenominal in general.
- More to come....

I'm a bit dumfounded by your choice of Jimmy Page. If you're going for innovation and creation of a style, obvious choices might be Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. If you're going for overall talent and virtuoso, choices might be Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, or Joe Satriani. What does Jimmy Page have over the likes of these guys?
I figured that I'd get something like that. I don't know what it is. Its that Jimmy Page is a mixed bag. He's everything rolled into one that a great guitarist should be. He had the pure talent; sure, you may call it sloppy but I call it style, and what a style at that. He had the influentiality; you hear Jimmy page EVERYWHERE in music and his solos are some of the most memorable that you will ever hear. Chances are if you sang a few bars of Jimmy Pages solo off Stiarway to Heaven to someone they'd be able to identify it off that bat. And most importantly, he just had the feel like no one else does. Jimmy can set the emotion of a song like no one else. He can get any emotion he wants out of any genre of music he wants. Zeppelin played Blues, Hard Rock, punk, reggae, Folk, Country, Funk, and stuff I can't even describe and he could get you to feel whatever he wanted with the notes he played. He was a genius in my eyes, and I can't think of anyone else who has done anything like he has. There's people who have excelled in individual areas moreso than he has like you mentioned, but in terms of your well-rounded guitarist, page has everything you'd ever need and more.
Here's my list (more of a favorite than a best though):
Guitar - Eddie Hazel
Bass - John Paul Jones
Sax - Coleman Hawkins
Trumpet - Miles
Pianist - David Sancious, Bernie Worrel (tie)
Drummer - Keith Moon
