The list above is my first draft at my year end "best of". Subject to change prior to the end of the year...

What are the Rogue Wave, Futureheads & Features records like? Have you heard the new Hot Snakes? That's a definite Top 10 pick for me. I missed them playing SF when I was on vacation, but I hear they're coming back this way.

The AP had the best description of Rogue Wave: "Think Doug Martsch fronting the Shins and playing the sweetest Carl Newman jams ever." It's a very nice West-coast indie pop album.

The Futureheads and The Features both sound A LOT like early-XTC. The former is a bit more skewed to the hyper, keyboard-driven early albums while the latter is a bit more rocking. Both are very enjoyable, but The Features album features some lame lyrics at time.

(I'd be more than happy to provide you dubs if you're interested. I'd also recommend another XTC "inspired" band called Dogs Die in Hot Cars.)

I have the first two Hot Snakes albums, but haven't heard the latest. They're playing here soon, so I'll have to check 'em out!
