I like all those, except KLF. I don't think their music is that great, although I find them interesting as far as the whole conspiracy theory part of them goes (does that make sense).
Anyway, I think you really know your stuff as far as music is concerned (for being 14!!). You should definitely get into djing or making music in the future. Have you seen the film "Modulations," I think it portrays an accurate history of electronic music. Definitely worth watching. (:
Not sure what is meant by the conspiracy theory part of them is? I'd love it if you'd kindly explain :)
and where can i find "Modulations?"
I do a bit of mixing here and there, though over the summer, i'm hoping to get some synths together and having a go at sampling/producing.
There's really too much to explain about the KLF here, but if you check out allmusic.com, they should explain it, or the KLF probably have a website. It's really interesting.
You can probably rent Modulations, and I'm sure it's on Amazon or something. I own it on VHS, (do you know what that is? LOL) just kidding.
I play around with Fruity Loops sometimes. You've probably heard of it. It's good for making techno.
My ex-boyfriend had a 303 duplicate thing, (I forget what it's called.) He had thousands of $'s worth of equipment, but he had no talent, LOL. I've played around with a 909 and had a 606 but never a 303. You can do pretty much everything you need to do with Fruity Loops though. How much is a 303 these days? Probably not that much. 10 years ago they were thousand of dollars.
They still are thousands of dollars, i check ebay every so often to see if there are any cheap ones lol :P
Sorry to be nosey, but does ex-boyfriend mean you're a woman or a bisexual? 909's a drum machine right? How much are they worth would you say?
I'm female. I thought you knew that when I made a reference that I'm old enough to be your mother, and I would be homosexual if I was gay, not bisexual. ;)
A Roland 909 is a drum machine which is the basis for pretty much all the drum loops in techno. (maybe not new techno, since I'm not that up on it.) I have no idea how much 909's are, but Roland came out with the whole 303, 606, 909 series again awhile back. Do you have Fruity Loops? You can get the 303 sound on there, or are you one of those analogue people.
i love the 303, though analog sounds can be ok, such as in The Sound of C by The Confettis, or by Blue Monday. Jeez! a good female dj! I can think of hardly any other good electronic djs/producers who are women, there are a few well known ones such as Lisa Lashes, but her music is terrible. I'll D/L fruity loops and hava look at it =]
Misstress Barbara, Sandra Collins, Sydney Blu, are a few names that come to mind as far as female dj's are concernced. There are some in Toronto.
ok I'm on msn k_roetsch@hotmail.com
The KLF are indeed fascinating, but I think they're far from musical geniuses, as they pretty much admit themselves. That said, "Chill Out" is absolutely brilliant.
I don't like the KLF stuff like the one with Tammy Wynette, and What time is Love., but yes, "Chill Out" is brilliant.
I'm into conspiracy theory stuff, and the KLF is HUGE into that.
Good choices :)
If you like them you'll most likely like:
The KLF
Leftfield
Blur
Union Jack
Sorry if you already know them but in case you don't i suggest you check em out

And thanks for the Pump Panel - Ego Acid track it's awesome, tranceyish but also sounds a bit like Acid House.
