I've more to add. All suggestions welcome!

A few that qualify for me:

Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music
The Beatles - Let It Be
Bob Dylan - Dylan (recently heard this one; it wasn't worth the effort; Down in the Groove is certainly pretty bad as well)
The Beach Boys - L.A. (Light Album)
Elvis Presley - Having Fun with Elvis on Stage
David Bowie - Never Let Me Down
The Who - Join Together
The Velvet Underground - Squeeze (they weren't really the Velvet Underground any more by any stretch of the imagination)

Shalom, y'all!

I forgot Let it be!
Thanks.

Best wishes,

A few other suggestions and comments:

- Rolling Stones, "Dirty Work" - this one almost broke the Stones up, although 'One Hit to the Body' was pretty rockin'. Luckily, they rebounded with "Steel Wheels," a good effort but not a classic.
- R.E.M., "Up" - Bill Berry had just left the band, and for some odd reason his departure shows. Really unfocused; the band sounds bored.
- U2, "Pop" - You figured after a while their flirtations with dance and experimentalism would come to an end, but it does so with in an unavoidable track wreck sort of way. Some good songs here, but all in all, it's a hard album to sit through.
- Eric Clapton, "August" - Boring, boring, boring, and if you'll forgive me, it wasn't any secret that Clapton's music become more focused once he stopped drinking. Aside from "Miss You", not even Phil Collins' energetic production (which actually is more of a hinder than anything) peps up this snoozer.

I don't know if "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" is Floyd's work. I can still listen to it once in a while, but others like "The Division Bell" are just unlistenable.

I can't comment on the Stones or U2 albums since I don't have them yet, but I agree with you with Eric Clapton. Little of his work after Cream has ever really interested me, perhaps with the exception of From The Cradle.
As for REMs Up, I have to disagree! I love the album. It's full of desolate beauty and emotion - At My Most Beautiful, The Lotus and Sad Professor coming immediatly to mind.

Best wishes,
Ed.
