These authors had series that started out as excellently written books, but the last entries have been disappointing. For some of them, the last 3 or 4 have been disappointing.
I still cannot believe that David Weber didn't even really start the action in War of Honor until after page 700. Half of that book should have been left on the editor's floor.
well Anne Rice is dead so she's definitely in decline!

I don't know why I thought she was dead, I'm getting confused these days rather easily, sorry bout that mishap!
