- Well, after seeing quite a few lists of peep's top trance songs, I'd thought I'd make one myself. I haven't heard as much as others here, but still hope this list will help someone.
- -
- Just a note, these are MY personal top trance songs, not necessarily the best. And this is a work in progress.
- If anyone wants to grab these songs, I've made a torrent. If there are no seeds, just leave a comment, and I'll seed it for you.
- ACAI's top 50 trance songs
- -
- We Came in Peace - Dance 2 Trance
- - This is hands down my favourite best trance song ever. With a sweet goa bassline, and a killer main riff, I can never get sick of this song.
- Heliopolis - Banco De Gaia
- - Mmmmmmmm. Strange layers of strange acid and other chirpy nature sounds send me to a crazy isolated forest, drifting slowly above a river, with jagged rocks on both sides, riding a yellow bike (don't ask).
- Energy 52 (Three 'N One Mix) - Cafe Del Mar
- - This song is so weird. It's like its randomly put together, and out of rhythm, but it isn't. A truly brilliant song, worthy of the praise it receives.
- Symphony - Hybrid
- - I love breaks, and love the minimal progressive symphonic sounds of Symphony. It just endlessly continues, twisting and morphing. Brilliant.
- Nothing (93 Returning Mix) - James Holden
- - I'm not into minimal (yet), but the beauty of Nothing astonishes me. The captivating shoegaze-like vocals, the sparse but alluring acid, this is one of the greatest trance songs ever.
- Offshore - Chicane
- - Once again, I love Ibiza trance, it's just a shame there isn't much good stuff of it. I'd say even moreso then Beachball, this makes me think of Ibiza, the sand, the sea, the sky. The Ambient Mix is awesome too.
- The Gift - Way Out West
- - Absolutely fantastic and catchy breaks, some nice vocals and floaty background noises. Very nice.
- Xpander - Sasha
- This is just the exact definition of progressive trance. Long, flowing, changing, expanding...
- Halycon & On & On - Orbital
- - Another cloud traveling song. The little tinkles, ambient background, and the groovy beats makes this extremely easy to chill to.
- Greece 2000 - Three Drives on Vinyl
- Eugina - Salt Tank
- Dark and Long - Underworld
- Plan 94 - X Tracks
- Kites - Ultraviolet
- - Once again, breaks, mixed with the Eastern sounds that I just love. The vocals lift me into the sky, like a kite! It's just a shame they did nothing else to my knowledge.
- Papua New Guniea - Future Sound of London
- Winter - Ahril Brikha
- Out of Body Experience Phase 7 - Rabbit in the Moon
- Mahadeva - Astral Projection
- - I'm surprised too. A unique sounding goa song? Mahadeva is unrelentlessly pounding and beating, yet magical and unworldly at the same time. One of the very few goa songs that can stand repeat listening by me.
- Suburban Train - DJ Tiesto
- - Tiesto actually making good trance, rather then spinning bad trance.
- For An Angel - Paul Van Dyk
- Love Simulation (Paul van Dyk Lovemix) - Humate
- Salt Tank - Eugina (Pacific Diva)
- Born Slippy Nuxx - Underworld
- Rare Duet - Robert Miles/Aphex Twin
- - First time I heard it, it instantly reminded me of something you'd hear on a Sonic game on a Sega Genesis. Strange I know, but fitting, if you've played the games. It's a one of a kind song, and an extremely good one at that.
- Red Herring - Union Jack
- - What else can I say about Red Herring, other than it has the best acid ever. The bits in between the acid don't do as much for me, but it's still a great track.
- Dorset Perception - Shpongle
- Chicane - Saltwater
- Fuzzy Logic - Obsession
- Stella - Jam & Spoon
- - Another chilled track (do I see a pattern?), Stella is the perfect in which to sit back, close your eyes, and drift into the Mediterranean Sea. Also, the vocals don't annoy me as much as they do other people.
- Mind Circus (Gabriel & Dresden Mix) - Way Out West
- - Probably the best vocal trance song I have heard. Catchy piano riff too, as well as some nice beats.
- Shpongle - Divine Moments of Truth
- - A strangely catchy jungle-esque beat and awesome lyrics/people sounds from the masters of psybient, Shpongle.
- Night of the Jaguar - Aztec Mystic
- Paragliders - Paraglide
- Faith (Loafer Mix) - Starecase
- Oasis - Paragliders
- - This song is criminally underrated in my opinion, with it's orchestral start, mixed in later with the influx of acid, and then later on, the infectious core of the song. For me, better then Paraglide.
- Water From a Vine Leaf - William Orbit
- Belfast - Orbital
- Liebe (Red) - Cosmic Baby
- - Who would have though whale noises mixed well with trance? The sparse tune is just perfect, but I'd wish he'd get rid of the honestly unoriginal acid part in the middle.
- Silent Waves - Jonas Steur
- Domination - Way Out West
- And Day Turned To Night - Shpongle
- - This is another underrated song. It starts off as a downtempo/chillout track, then becomes psybient in all of it's weirdness, then becomes a nice of techno. Outstanding.
- Parasight - Balil
- - If Heliopolis a daytime flight just above a river in a forest, this is the same scene, except at late twilight, above the clouds, flying at a slow pace, aimlessly drifting, into the dark blue sky.
- Wavy Gravy - Sasha
- 9PM - ATB
- How Much Can You Take (Physical Mix) - Visions of Shiva
- Boiler (Humate Remix) - Pob
- Seadog - Clanger

Some good choices here, and the best thing is the variation. Most lists are biased towards one side of the spectrum (Usually anthem & Epic and a bit of progressive), but you have an inclusion of lots of different styles here which I really like. Really good list, you should order it!
(Btw it's Ahril Brikha not April Brikha)
Thanks dude, I've sorta been neglecting the list.
Anthem just makes me cringe now.
And blame 'April' on soulseek. :D
Symmetry(C-Mix) ... artist is?
Ooops, it's Brainchild.
I really like this list, you've obviously now sampled quite a lot of other electronic music and are quite knowledgeable on the subject, and I like the way there isn't ONE bad song here. Kudos, you have good taste man.
I think you might like these songs...
Ame - Rej (Minimal Trance)
Man With No Name - Teleport (Goa Trance)
L.S.G. - Hearts (Classic Trance)
Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Ibiza Trance)
Hardfloor - Acperience 1 (Acid Trance)
By the way, there's a teensy contradiction in your text...
"Just a note, these are MY personal top trance songs, not necessarily the best."
"# We Came in Peace - Dance 2 Trance
This is hands down the best trance song ever."
lol =P oh well, I still really like this list, and we came in peace is a kick ass track. well done, I look forward to the development of this list! :)
Thanks for pointing that out.
I don't particularly like hard trance, which is why Acperience isn't there, Seven Cities is only alright, even for myself who likes Ibiza trance.
Teleport and Rej need relistening to, and I'll have to chase up Hearts. Thanks.
For An Angel - Paul Van Dyke
Paul is no dyke. ;)
Haha, thanks for that, he isn't one of those small lakes ;)
Not bad, but I've heard every song on this list.
I would be surprised if you hadn't.
Ultraviolet did do other stuff, I Wish That, Fantasy Wish & Fly , which are all good, YouTube them if you want to hear them.
Ah, sweet, it didn't say they did anything else on discogs.
..... Discogs... is where I found additional information on Ultraviolet... perhaps you were just in a different area than I there...?
I guess so.
I'm surprised too. A unique sounding goa song? Mahadeva is unrelentlessly pounding and beating, yet magical and unworldly at the same time. One of the very few goa songs that can stand repeat listening by me.
*Cringes*
Apart from this minor disagreement (you don't even have Hallucinogen - LSD =\), the rest of your list is good stuff. Of course everyone has their personal tastes, and I don't like a few of the tracks on this list that much, but otherwise you've got the main tracks. No cheesy or commercial tracks here. I'm sure you would have already checked out all the non-Goa trance which is on my list and not on yours.
I have seen your brilliant goa page, but sadly haven't managed to grab any albums. Problems with Soulseek, you see.
I too am surprised LSD isn't on the list, that is a large foresight on my part.
I'm not particularly surprised that you don't like a few tracks on the list, as you seem to enjoy psy and goa far more than I, while I enjoy the slower, more ethereal and chillout-y side of trance
I'm sorry, but lots of goa songs blend in together, it comes with the genre itself I guess. I don;t hate goa, it's just as I said before, it all blends together for me.
If its any help I put up a torrent of the best goa tracks here . Yup I guess our tastes just differ, though to me Shakta, Hallucinogen, Juno Reactor and Paradise Connection etc.. sound quite different, Shakta and Juno Reactor especially have unique sounds.
Btw as a whole, do you like acid trance more or less than the other sub-genres of trance?
I like acid trance quite a lot less then most other trance genres. By acid trance, I mean Acperience and Access and the like, not classic trance like We Came in Peace or psy.
I guess if you don't like acid, you can't like goa BUT you might still like the ambient side, which is much more chilled out and has much less acid, so its easier to appreciate. You've already heard Shpongle. Others are..
Entheogenic - Entheogenic
Capsula - Synthesis of Reality
Ott - Blumenkraft
Carbon Based Lifeforms - Hydroponic Garden
Abakus - That Much Closer to the Sun
Kuba - Through a Lens
Bluetech - Prima Materia
Shulman - Spiritual Worlds
Thanks for the recs, I've heard about half. The Abakus album is great, especially Igmatik. Entheogenic and Prima Materia don't really stick out for me personally as psybient CDs, Blumenkraft needs another re-listen, and I enjoyed the house-ier elements of Through a Lens.
I'll have to chase up the others.
And btw, nice Goa/Psy torrent, I'm really enjoying it.
Thanks :) So you're already somewhat into psybient. Thats nice to see! I actually haven't got into the downtempo side that much, because uptempo is generally more psychedelic and crazy! =p If you're ok with housey/chilled out vibes, then there is lots of good prog psy....for starters
Ace Venture - Rebirth
Antix - Twin Coast Discovery
Atmos - Headcleaner
Cosma - Simplicity (not prog but more like minimal melodic)
Jaia - Fiction
Lish - Free Fall
P.O.T.S. - Creating Social Success
Phony Orphants - It Cetra
Tegma - 002:Avant Garde
Ah cheers man, haven't heard any of them.
A few of us are stuck on your torrent around 70% - I'm pretty sure we would all appreciate a seed!
Thanks for the memo, I'll get to it in the next few days.
I'd love to d/l your list of songs (torrent), but no seeders. Can you help me out? Hopefully, I'll find some tracks/remixes that I'll include in my dj library. thanks!
It's on my to do list. Tomorrow it is!
