I think that at least two of these movies JohnnyW refuses to watch, but hopefully he will at least not be disappointed with my choices of Ferris, Silence of the Lambs, and The Shining. :)

Well, one I could be arm-twisted into watching someday, but you're right about Amelie: it's not gonna happen;)

I like everything else here--nice to see The Shining.

Why Johnny, I had no idea you had such distaste for Amelie. I personally loved it, but I shan't twist your arm...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs, I'm glad that you had an open enough mind to watch Amelie. :) Are you a fan of any of my 80's movies?

I think I like most of your films listed, with the possible exception of The Goonies (just not a fan, even when I saw it in the theaters at the age of 12) and The Shining (which I should probably see again before grousing too much). Oddly enough, I enjoyed Sleepless in Seattle okay in the theaters, but memory and time leave a nasty taste in my mouth. I probably need to revisit it at some point. Even at the time, though, I greatly favored When Harry Met Sally... from this genre.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off stands with The Breakfast Club as Hughes' peak, and I also think The Fellowship of the Ring is the best out of the terrific LOTR series.

Great list!

Shalom, y'all!

Hughes's peak, eh? Have you seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, lbangs? Probably my favorite Hughes, though I do love Ferris Bueller.

Oh, and great list, moodyeeyore. I'm not a LOTR fan, but I like the rest of what I've seen. Silence of the Lambs and Amelie are real masterpieces.

It would run a close third to the other two, in my book. Of course, more time has elapsed since I've seen it, so maybe a fresh viewing would change my mind.

Shalom, y'all!

You should check out my 80's list, where Planes, Trains, and Automobiles makes the cut of my favorites from that era. I just saw it for the first time a couple of years ago, and laughed almost the entire way through it.

Thank you for the compliment on my list. :)

Amelie is just such a happy movie; it's nice to watch on a rainy, gloomy afternoon to help you feel better about life. :)
