Author Comments:

* - I have the album in my possession, but I stole it from my father and eventually I'll have to give it back.

Obviously I have no money because I'm a broke college student, so it will be awhile until I get any of these CDs.

As always, suggestions are welcome.

Well, I don't know if you wanted to fill this list with artists you just discovered / haven't heard that much of, but that "Jackie Wilson Said" song you like isn't on either of the Van Morrison CDs you have there. Those CDs are great, but that song is on Saint Dominic's Preview, which is also an awesome album.

YOUR DAD HAS GREAT TASTE

I want that boxset so much I can taste it.

Oh man, I know. I want to buy it, but I know my dad wants it, too, so I think I'll wait for him to get it, so I don't have to spend my money... :-)

Good idea!

Be careful! I got my copy 3 weeks ago and so far I've been inspired to order 19 albums.
It's a gateway drug!

You are not the only person who wishes for the money to pick up that Thanks punk box set... :(

From scanning the track listing, it looks pretty great.

Shalom, y'all!

I bought that Punk box set for my 14 year old nephew. It is never to early to get them started in the right musical direction.

I am happy to say he is enjoying it very much. The kid is actually a not half bad self taught guitarist.

The box set is very, very good. The sound is pretty crisp and clean which sometimes is hard to do with that early punk stuff

Since I haven't been on IM much lately, I guess I'll ask you here - what did you think of Her Wallpaper Reverie? Do you like the rest as much as "Ruby"?

Ooh, and how did you like Something / Anything?

Heh. I got ten new albums in two days; I don't really think I can comment on any of them at this point. First impressions are good, though.

Her Wallpaper Reverie is great, but I think I can safely say "Ruby" is my favorite track. The others just aren't as good.

And after only one listen I can tell I'm really going to like Something / Anything?

I wish I could say more about them, but I've only listened to each once so far.

Well, fair enough. I still agree with you on Her Wallpaper Reverie after many listens, and hey, unless I'm crazy, I think AAA's favorite Apples in Stereo song is "Ruby" too. Anyone else wanna chime in? lbangs, you out there? How about dgeiser13, I think I've heard you mention the Apples before?

I hope you end up liking Something / Anything? as much as I do. I love it. I could come up with my list of highlights, but I don't think I could narrow it down past 10.

P.S. You'll have to tell me what you think of the other Apples in Stereo albums, once you've gotten the chance to listen to them more.

I really like Ruby (and Her Wallpaper Reverie, which is on my 100 Albums list), but my favorite song on the disc is probably Questions and Answers.

I might add that I only have the original EP and not the 2002 reissue with six extra songs.

Shalom, y'all!

I think out of the ones you want to buy. I say go with the Joni...if you promise not to tell anyone there are times I like Court and Spark more than Blue.

Of course looking at your Dad's collection I've got to words for you. Get Burning.

(shifts eyes back and forth; whispers) I agree with jgandcag about Court and Spark, I think.

Alright, it's settled. If two people sat it's better than Blue, it's the next album I buy.

Wellll... I can't promise you'll like it better than Blue. Truth is, Joni Mitchell's two masterpiece albums could not be more different. Blue has great songwriting with some simple folk music backing it up. Court and Spark also has great songwriting, but a couple of the songs may be a bit slight, or at least compared to the Blue ones. And Court and Spark's music rocks harder than Blue's. It's probably just a personal thing. Court and Spark is just more enjoyable for these ears.

Wellll... Blue is my favorite album right now, so I may not like Court and Spark as much. Still, I think I'll get it next so I can check it out.

I slightly favor Blue, but to be honest, I just peeked at my latest top 25 favorite album list, and the two albums are a mere five slots away from each other. In other words, they are inside the margin of error, and I probably shouldn't make any firm call in the matter. Besides, they are both rather different, and they are both freakin' brilliant.

I suspect you might very well like it... An added bonus: even new, it usualy sells pretty cheap. I think my local Best Buy has it for under ten bucks.

Shalom, y'all!

Oh, and enjoy Pet Sounds, also a resident in my top 25.

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

I can definitely see myself in moods where I'd like Court and Spark more than Blue. They're both *incredible* albums.

I hope you're enjoying Television!

I really am! Thanks. :-)

What would the world be like without The Buzzcocks?

Ed Vedder said Pearl Jam would have sounded like Good Charlotte without The Buzzcocks.

All very fine choices, you've got stook's hardy approval. Not that you care but it's there all the same.

Tallyho

:?)

Whoa, I only sent them yesterday. That's out of control. Now get your butt on AIM and talk to me about them!
