All credit for layout and idea goes to captmal from whom i cloned this list
I don't really listen to whole albums that often, so i wouldn't expect many updates , or variation in grades, as i'm most likely going to re-listen to my all time faves and i rarely buy new music, so expect A+'s really. This list covers, sit down listens (really listening paying attention) casual (say while on the pc) or on the move with my portable music player
Cloned From:

Maroon still your fave BNL?
Yeah i think so, i mean it's got so many greats on there, then again, so does Gordon. I would for sure say those two are their best works, but i think i'd give the edge to maroon ever so slightly. I think mainly because, wheni first got into them i did so because i heard Pinch Me on scrubs (last episode of 2nd season i think). so maroon was the first of theirs i heard. Re-listening to it recently, i was just like "wow, this is as awesome as i remember it" i might be in the minority here but i really like "Conventioneers" i have no idea why, but i find that song really good , and openly sing along to it lol I'd say Pinch Me, Sell Sell Sell, Helicopters & Tonight Is the Night I Fell Asleep at the Wheel are the anthems of the album. Not just because of length but they have a kind of epic feel to them, with interesting lyrics, quite a few Politicly charged (mostly heli & Sell Sell Sell) then you have you're all rounders The Humor of the Situation, Never Do Anything, Too Little Too Late, Falling for the First Time, Baby Seat. Then you have the short & snappy Go Home (a brilliant song) then the more emotional Off the Hook. So i think those combined make for a great album. Faster and rockier than some of their other work but IMO their finest hour
soz for the long reply ! lol
No, great to hear your thoughts!
I think I might rate "Maroon" best too. In the past "Stunt" was my fave, but "Maroon" has been growing on me, especially the less obviously/immediately appealing ones like "Off the Hook" and "Conventioneers", as you mention. I love the lyrics of the ones you cite as politically charged, too. Yep, probably BNL's best.
I'm not as huge a fan of "Gordon" though. maybe it's because I haven't heard it enough. But outside of the ones on the Greatest Hits album ("Brian Wilson", "Enid", "$1000000", "Good Boy"), I find much of it forgettable. I like it as I listen but don't find myself drawn to it when I'm seeking out a BNL album to listen to, y'know?
I've asked before but keep forgetting - have you heard BNL Are Men yet?
Yes i seem to remember you stating Stunt was your favourite in the past. That has some greats on it, Light Up My Room, i think is brilliant, really layed back. In The Car, which wasn't a fave of mine at first, i thought it was trying to be funny but the genius of that song is, it's deeply personal lyrics (or at least it seems) masked with BNL's trademark funky/fun musical approach, which i think makes it difficult at first, but once you see that, its a total gem of a song. I'm also a big fan of Some Fantastic (Ivory and Ivory) and of course, call & Answer, is awesome. The albums of listened to the least are probably Born on a Pirate Ship & BNL Are Me.
Well it might be a case of the fact you heard those songs seperatly on the best of. For example, as i mentioned before i haven't heard Born on a Pirate Ship very much, and i think its because i heard The Old Apartment, Shoe Box, Break Your Heart, Straw Hat and Old Dirty Hank either on best of or live album so it lessened my need to listen to the album as much as the others. So with that said, i can see where you're comming from in relation to Gordon. What i like about BNL albums is, they are fairly predictable. That's not meant as a negative comment at all. By this i mean, like in my breakdown of Maroon, you have certain songs that fill certain fans. You might have a fan who prefers the whackier side of them (example on Gordon = Be My Yoko Ono, King of Bedside Manor) or you could prefer the more emotional BNL (Example on Gordon = The Flag, What a Good Boy).
Not yet, theres actually a few i need to catch up on, they have released Are Men, Talk to the Hand: Live in Michigan (which i won't buy untill i relisten to Are Me & buy Are Men, due to songs played) & i have always wanted the christmans album lol
"In the Car" was one that grew on me too, yeah. At first I thought it was just average but I've since grown to love it, mostly for the lyrics.
The album I've listened to least is "Gordon", and then after that "Born On A Pirate Ship". "BOAPS" has grown on me recently but it's still among their weakest, too much filler.
You're almost certainly right about the fact I heard those songs beforehand affecting my judgement. I'll try and give the full "Gordon" album a relisten at some point soon (incidentally, I finished taking my A-Level exams yesterday, so I should have free time a-plenty on my hands!)
The Christmas album is very cool :-D Admittedly about half is covers/parodies/synthesised versions of traditional stuff, but the BNL originals are great. Do you own all the other BNL albums on CD, or have you just got them downloaded?
congrats on finishing A levels, good luck with the results!
i have them on CD, by far the most albums i have from one band
