Author Comments:

The list, as you can see, is a bit top-heavy, what with AK being one of my 2 or 3 favorite film directors. But hey, I'd recommend those films over something like, say, breathing. On most occasions.

Btw, all the bold titles there....too much? Should I just leave them as plain text? I'm looking at it right now in preview mode and it has this distinct proactive (how I hate that word) look to it.

Edited to add:
***** - Wicked awesome
**** - Damn, that was good
*** - Eh
** - I've seen worse, but probably not by choice
* - I'd rather stick hot sewing needles in my eyes than watch this again

Wow, you've seen all Kurosawa's movies except one?! You rock. Can you tell me what your stars translate to? I assume five is a masterpiece, but what are the two and threes? Still worth seeing?

Thanks! I should probably have posted a rating guide along with the list. I shall correct that right off.

Madadayo is such a sweet film! I have it on DVD. When I was in a Religions of the East class my last semester of college, we were offered extra credit if we saw one or two foreign films at the Foreign Film Festival. I saw Himalaya and Madadayo and loved both of them. I can never forget the search for Nora, the cat. :)
