I have to agree with you on Gladiator. I didn't go to the theaters to see it because I thought it was an overrated action flick. I've never been so wrong! The fights scenes were incredible, but some of the computer animation was not as smoothly inserted.

[new topic] At one point I thought the Maximus would kill Ceasar, marry his sister and live happily ever after, but then realized this could never happen. Part of what made him a hero, was his undying love for his family. And he stated earlier in the movie that he was waiting for the right moment to see them again. It still seemed very "fair tale" like in nature. But who cares, I liked it!

It was quite by accident that I ended up seeing it in the theater, actually. We were in Rhode Island at the ocean one day last May, and we stopped at this movie theater on the way home just to see what was playing and if we were in time for anything, and the only thing playing at that time was Gladiator. I had only seen one preview of it, and I was like, "I don't know . . ." But we went anyway, and I could not believe how good it was. I'm ashamed to say that we went to see it 2 more times in the theater and then again at the drive-in!!! And now, of course, I own it, and half of Russell Crowe's other movies. Who would have known?
