80's Teen Angst Classics

  • The Breakfast Club - The Brat Pack at their best! I can't tell you how many times I have seen this movie.
  • Say Anything - "I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen." John Cusack, baby!
  • Heathers - A movie about killing off the popular people in high school... the ultimate in twisted humour.
  • Pretty in Pink - Molly Ringwald and Jon "Ducky" Cryer. Am I the only one that thought Ducky was cuter than Andrew McCarthy?!?!?
  • Some Kind of Wonderful - Eric Stoltz, need I say more? Nope.
  • Sixteen Candles" - hahaha.. you are right! This movie is the best! I just wanted to start my list out with five selections. Who can forget the line, "I can't believe I was just felt up by my grandmother." or "My little brother paid $1 to see your underpants last night..."

My movie collection is getting a tad out of control, but these are still my favourites!

I realize that John Hughes had a monopoly on 80's Teen Angst, but how can you forget to include "Sixteen Candles"?

ALthough I watch "The Breakfast Club" EVERY SINGLE TIME I catch it flipping through the cable channels (and love it everytime) I could argue that it IS alittle pretentious.

But "Sixteeen Candles"? It is pure, unadulterated teen angst fun. And Molly's male-interest was far cuter than both Andrew McCarthy and John Cryer put together.

Favorite PIP Line: "Blane? His name is Blane? That's not a name, it's an appliance!"

Some time try watching "Pretty in Pink" - the Spader version. This means fast-forward through all scenes where James Spader does not appear. It gives a whole new life to the movie and is hilarious. "Blaine, you can't invite just anybody..."

I would also include Can't Buy Me Love starring Amanda Peterson and Patrick Dempsey.
