Author Comments:
necessary for living - these are my desert island must-haves
in revamping this list, i decided i shouldn't list more than one album per artist, i could include collections--since the point is to have all my favorites in the most condensed manner possible--and i'd allow only 2 albums per year max.

Nothing essential before 1972?
I may not agree with many of these, but I am impressed you have heard October Project. Great disc, eh?
What do you think of Innocence Mission? If you like October Project, I'm guessing you might like their self-titled debut.
Shalom, y'all!

Oh, and if you're willing to do a little digging, I'm willing to bet you would also like Over the Rhine's Eve or Til We Have Faces.
I'll shut up now.
Shalom, y'all!

i've heard *of* them, but i'll have to track some down and give it a listen... thanks for the suggestion.
you make a good point re: 1972--i think i was going for albums i was once completely obsessed with or can't go without listening to for long periods of time. but all the same, i thought it worthwhile to look into so did a little research and added some classics, just for you. (thanks for the prompt!)
also, regarding Innocence Mission--you're right, i do love them. and have you heard November Project, the new incarnation of October Project. they have a new lead singer and a couple other new people in the lineup, but it's still pretty amazing. be sure check it out if you haven't...
I haven't heard November Project yet. I'll have to track it down. Thanks for the suggestion!
It's nice to see the new additions (for me? Aw, shucks...) Have you heard Simon and Garfunkel's Bookends? While I enjoy Bridge, I've always enjoyed Bookends a bit more.
Shalom, y'all!

There are other women on the site!
I especially sway to many of the early 70s albums you mentioned. Grace is great as well.
Do you like Liz Phair or PJ Harvey?
Zeep! Zeep! Zeep!
hey judge, glad you're finding your way about the site. do you think there's a high male to female ratio here at listology? i think there are quite a few gals on here--you may just not recognize them with their non-gender names!
as for liz phair and pj harvey--i tend not to go for more hard-edged female singers (hole/L7 etc) for whatever reason, but i'll be seeing pj harvey with U2 at the end of the month and i plan on keeping an open mind. i'll let you know!
