- Feel free to make comments and suggestions about this list. Obviously this is just my opinion so many of you will not share the same views. Reply's will be very welcome!
- 1)Cafe Del Mar (Nalin and Kane Remix)-Energy 52
- I was tempted to choose the earlier and much more popular Three'N'One remix here, but I believe this remix is a little less cliché and a bit stronger. Obviously Cosmic Baby and Kid Paul got it pretty much spot on in '93, but it wasn't very well received until '97 when Strasser and Khososi made it a smash hit. A beautiful Ibiza track along with that Nalin and Kane sound makes this the best trance song of all time.
- 2) Love Stimulation (PVD Love Club Mix)-Humate
- Special thanks must go to Darktremmor here as I had only heard the original remix up until about two years ago, then I saw the PVD Love club mix was on his list and I checked it out. It pretty much blew me away and I've been in love with it ever since. Ive pretty much exhausted all superlatives in relation it this track, and because it was so early (1993) this track rates pretty high with many trance fans. Another perfect Ibiza trance track, wonderful in so many ways. If you havent got it already I suggest you download it!
- 3) Netherworld-LSG
- What can I say about Oliver Lieb? The most respected person in trance, and perhaps the most influential, this man gave us so much good music that his talents are very obvious. Netherworld is quite a bit behind the other two, but still brilliant. I had alot of trouble deciding whether this was better than Xpander for the best progressive trance track of all time, but this track edged it. A classic!
- 4) Age of Love (Jam & Spoon Watch out for Stella Remix)-Age of Love
- I do not know if Sanchioni and Cherchia knew what they were creating when they made this track, but they are now pretty much in the history books as producing the first ever trance record (Maybe Rolf Ellmer wouldnt agree here!) Ellmer certainly made it more popular with this remix though. Age of Love is a magnificent track, and paved the way for the trance genre.
- (5) Xpander-Sasha
- Along with making excellent compilation CDs with John Digweed, Sasha made some very good trance songs, the pinnacle being Xpander. Described by many as perfect progressive trance, this track deserves all the accolades it receives.
- (6) Red Herring-Union Jack
- The first acid trance track on this list, I believe this is the best in its sub-genre. I think this was the second project by Simon Berry (Another contender for most influential person in trance) and his best work. Red Herring is a very nice track, perhaps not as well recognised as the other top 10 tracks, but it deserves its place at number 6
- 7) Beachball(Extended Vocal Mix)-Nalin and Kane
- Yet another ibiza trance track had made it to the top 10, this time with Nalin and Kane's smash hit beachball. Just close your eyes and listen, and you will feel like you are on the beach in Ibiza with clear skies and perfect sunshine. Wonderful track!
- 8) Voyage-Yahel
- I felt like I had to have a Psy/Goa in the top 10, and voyage was the track I decided on. Another very nice track.
- 9) Symphony-Hybrid
- I dont know if there is any difference between this and Finished Symphony, but I picked this track as it came slightly early. One of only two orchestral trance tracks on the list, this song kind of sounds like somthing you would here on Super Mario, but a million times better. A beautiful track.
- 10) Madagascar-Art of Trance
- This is my favourite Simon Berry produced track and it is no coincidence so many of his songs are on this list because he's a wonderul producer. This is probably my second favourite trance track of all time.
- 11) Horizons-James Holden
- A brilliant progressive trance producer, Holden is probably the best in the modern trance era. Horizons is maybe not as dark as Nothing but probably better.
- 12) Offshore-Chicane
- For all those who arent big into Ibiza trance this will be another track which you wont like. But for the majority who like it they will find it wonderful. Maybe the most famous track in this list apart from Born Slippy in terms of the general public appreciating it, this symbolises a perfect sunset on the balearics and is a classic.
- 13) Frontside-Dammerung
- I dont think there is any track that Sasha and Digweed can't find, mix and make into a classic. This is one from Northern Exposure II CD1 (which I think is stronger though many others do not agree!)
- 14) Amorph-Spicelab
- Im unsure if this is acid or classic trance, even though they are pretty much the same as many classics are acid. Another Lieb production and another very good one!
- 15) Belfast-Orbital
- As well as being a major influence on Simon Berry, Orbital were around before and at the time of the big bang and produced some very good ambient trance tracks. I think Belfast it probably the pick of them
- 16) Last Train to Lhasa-Banco De Gaia
- I could've pretty much picked the whole of Northern Exposure in my top 50 and this is is a perfect way to finish the North CD from NE. Beautiful Ambient Trance!
- 17) Summersault-Taste Experience
- Again quite an unknown track, some of you wont have heard it. Its the only other orchestral track on the list, and is a beautiful one!
- 18) Cascade-Future Sound of London
- Many people like Papua New Guinea more than this but I personally prefer this track. Made two years after the track just mentioned this reached number 27 in the chart.
- 19) Born Slippy-Underworld
- I dont know if this track is trance and if it is it should have a sub-genre of its own. Definately the most famous track on this list in terms of general recognition, and one played most in clubs everywhere. A weird but wonderful track, with lyrics that dont make any sense.
- 20) Inverted Forces-Psycobabble
- Probably not many of you would have heard this track, but its an excellent acid trance track.
- 21) Out of Body Experience-Rabbit in the moon
- 22) The World-Pulp Victim
- 23) Papua New Guinea-The Future sound of London
- 24) Deeper than Deep-Art of Trance
- 25) Purple (Sasha Vs The Light remix)-Gus Gus
- 26) Nothing (93 Returning Mix)-James Holden
- 27) Acid Eiffel-Choice
- 28) Greece 2000-Three Drives on a Vinyl
- 29) Sunrise-Etnoscope
- 30) Paragliders-Paraglide
- 31) Hearts-LSG
- 32) Go-Moby
- 33) Rej-Ame
- 34) Waterfalls-Atlantis
- 35) Superstring-Cygnus X
- 36) For an Angel-Paul Van Dyk
- 37) East-Humate and Rabbit in the moon
- 38) Heliopolis-Banco de Gaia
- 39) Resurrection-PPK
- 40) Gouryella-Gouryella
- 41) 1998 (Matt Darey Remix)-Binary Finary
- 42) Halcyon+On+On-Orbital
- 43) Eugina-Salt Tank
- 44) Strange World-Push
- 45) The Difference it Makes-The MFA
- 46) Suburban Train-DJ Tiesto
- 47) Eternal Spirit-4 Voice
- 48) Dark and Long (Dark Train)-Underworld
- 49) We came in Peace-Dance 2 Trance
- 50) Water from a Vine Leaf-William Orbit

For what it's worth, Sasha does not go by DJ Sasha.
As for Psycobabble's Inverted Forces, know where I could find it? Discogs and google came up blank for me.
If you wanna here it its on youtube http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OYjyB4716lQ is the link. Cool I'll change it to sasha
Ah thanks. I like it :D
Long live the soft side of acid!!!
Speaking of which, do you know more downtempo acid songs (like Acid Eiffel and Inverted Forces)?
As for Symphony vs Finished Symphony, there are some differences aside from length. In any case, I like Symphony (Original Full Length) version, which clocks at 14 minutes.
CORRECTIONS:
- Acid Eiffel is by Choice (Garnier was the main guy behind the outfit).
- PPK - Resurection (note the missing 'r').
- Balil - Parasight
- For Purple, you put the remix by the artist name.
I was able to rip an 'listenable' quality of Inverted Forces HERE using Firefox's DownloadHelper. Should I find a good quality version of the song I'll let you know.
Surprised that Dance 2 Trance - We came in Peace is ranked so low
Follow Me - Jam & Spoon
After Stella, you'd never suspect Jam & Spoon were behind this track. It's simultaneously ridiculous and awe-inspiring.
