Grease? Now, now, jblack. I'm shocked.

Ah, well, you included Cabaret, Singin' in the Rain, and other greats, so I'll learn to live with it.

Fun list.

You must know I'm not much a of a musical guy. so Grease got brownie points for Olivia Newton John.

Ah, it is all clear now...

Is she the one that you want (ooo, ooo, ooo, honey)?

:)

Olivia must have good taste; she recorded a few Mark Heard songs once, although they were chopped from her album's final running order at the last moment.

Well I think I need to hear this Mark Heard. Yu sure talk of him alot.

His Satellite Sky is brilliant, sounding almost like Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, REM's Out of Time, and Rolling Stone's Exile on Main Street stuck in a blender. Takes a bit getting use to, as you may well guess, and due to a mastering error, you'll want to pull your bass down a bit, but his songwriting is extremely moving, and the album is fantastic.

I can't believe I just wrote that all as two sentences...

Shalom, y'all!

L. Bangs

that sounds cool bangsie, I'll look him up.

I'm curious about your reaction to Dancer in the Dark, the latest attempt to create a contemporary musical. Does it match up to any of these you've listed?

Johnny Waco

I haven't seen it.

Great list. Grease might not top the rest from a musical POV (I'm not huge on musicals, my wife is so I see them), but it certainly wins #1 in my list. John freaking Travolta keeping up with Olivi-ahhhhhh Newton John. Even if she did look 30 something, it was a HOT 30 something, and did the whole cast do well or what? I haven't seen Top Hat. I want Mary Poppins on the list, so I guess by default I'd have to sub it for Top Hat.

Mary poppins Ugh! I dislike musicals immensley. I had to make a list though.
