21 Best Rock Bands (in order)

Tags:
  1. Led Zeppelin - Do I really have to explain? O.K. I will. Hands down the greatest band ever in any genre. They had it all, and in my opinion, have absolutely no competition. They were versatile, yet you instantly recognize their sound.
  2. Pink Floyd - So many great albums, with songs like "Time", "Comfortably Numb", "Astronomy Domine", and "Have a Cigar".
  3. The Doors - Highly underrated by most, but the first album "The Doors" is one of the greatest ever. Jim Morrison is the greatest rock-poet of all time.
  4. Black Sabbath - Osbourne, Iommi, and loud. Enough said.
  5. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Only around for a relatively short time, but made the best of it. A band close to my heart "and i hope Neil Young will remember/ a southen man dont need him around anyhow".
  6. Nirvana - Better every time I listen to them.
  7. Jimi Hendrix Experience - A band that changed Rock n Roll forever.
  8. Metallica - I may be one of the few, but I think "...And Justice For All" is one of the best albums i've ever heard from start to finish.
  9. Queen - Art-rock at its best. Freddie Mercury was the best frontman/vocalist ever, period.
  10. Rush - Solid band. Sometimes got a little far out. I think they had a really great sound. And Neil Peart is the best drummer i've heard yet.
  11. Guns'n'Roses - I love "Lies, Lies, Lies". And "Appetite For Destruction". The only band besides Metallica to save us from the 80's Glam rock garbage.
  12. The Who - All around great band.
  13. Bad Company - Another band that I think is underrated by most. Paul Rogers voice is legendary.
  14. Ozzy Osbourne - Lost a little without Sabbath, but if Randy Rhodes were still with us, who knows?
  15. Boston - Yes, a "corporate rock" band according to critics, but they were innovative and I just like their style.
  16. Pearl Jam - The album "Ten" itself gets them here, regardless of whatever they did after.
  17. Eagles - Somewhat inconsistent, but they still define rock music when you hear their best.
  18. Cream - Pioneers, Clapton at his best.
  19. Rolling Stones - I think overrated by most. I feel like I have to sift through alot of garbage to get to the good stuff. They still have many classics, though.
  20. Aerosmith - Without "Dream On" and " Sweet Emotion", they would prbably not be on this list. I just feel like evrything sounds the same. Still they are solid.
  21. Alice 'n Chains - Loud, hard, and Layne Staley is an awesome frontman.

Good list!

I must ask though.
How are bands like Rush, Boston, and Nirvana better than the Stones?
(Your opinion naturally)

I think maybe i'm just getting tired of the stones.

Free are the best - better than all of these - number one
(I notice that you have Bad Company on the list).

FREE: Why I Love them ...

I would also put the Who much higher up on this list.

Free is a good band. Top 30. But, after top 20 or so they just become jumbled up, which is why i could only actually list 21.

It's just my opinion of course, but I don't understand how Bad Company can appear above Free, especially if Led Zeppelin are at the top. Free are closer in style to Led Zep than Bad Company were.

Paul Rodgers is king, and he did his best work with Free.

Clapton was a fan of Paul Kossoff.

I'm sorry, and don't mean to create a ruckus, so dont take it the wrong way, but im so tired of hearing about nirvana. kurt cobain was an awesome person, but as far as a musician, he was not very good at guitar, couldnt sing all that well, his lyrics were nothing special, and his voice isnt too appealing. nirvana helped rock along the way, but i would consider them the farthest from grunge out of bands like alice in chains, soundgarden, and even pearl jam. also, metallica...their best music was scattered though their career-- fade to black, the unforgiven, welcome home sanitarium, one, and then songs that werent even theirs like tuesdays gone and turn the page. but their attitutes are the worst i have ever seen in music. its too much about money and not enough about music for them. their new stuff is all trash and should be banned from the entire world, just terrible...and all of this is coming from me, a one-time huge metallica fan, and nevermind was the first album i ever bought. but i honestly believe everything i just said to be true.

let me know what everyone else thinks, and like i said dont take offense cuz this is just my opinion
