If it's good female leads you're looking for, I suggest Charlize Theron in In the Valley of Elah and Keri Russell in Waitress, the latter of which would be a good Breakthrough nominee as well.

I'd say that the one to beat at this point is Carice Van Houten in BLACK BOOK, who's amazing and super hot to boot. Just my two cents.
