Author Comments:

I am in a position new to me this year. Barring the foreign language, documentary, and shorts categories, I have seen every film nominated for the Oscars.

Reflecting that, I have ordered each category other than the ones I mentioned above into the order I like, with my favorite nominee first and my least favorite on the bottom. For the categories where I have not seen every nominated film or talent, I have only included my guess on who or what will win.

I have also added a Where Is? category to point out people and films I think were quite slighted by not being nominated.

My predictions on who will actually win the golden guy are the entries in bold type. As usual, I included several of my patented "No Guts, No Glory" guesses! :)

YES! Cool predictions. I think the acting categories will be quite interesting. Well, except Best Leading Actor (seeing Strathairn win would make my day). Added, if you don't mind.

Also respect for having seen so many of these.

I don't mind a bit. Thanks! I'll be very curious to see how everything shakes out tonight!

Shalom, y'all!

Wow, I'm really impressed that you could rank six films based on their editing. I could never do that.

And yay, I'm so glad you [also] think Match Point is the best of those original screenplays! Not that it has a chance in hell...

I mentioned this elsewhere, but for the sake of everyone else on Listology: In 2004, lbangs predicted Fog of War when I was sure it would go to Capturing the Friedmans, and in 2005, lbangs called Born Into Brothels when I was all about Super Size Me. Lbangs was of course right both times, so this year I was planning to just defer to his Best Documentary pick. And this year our picks agree, giving me confidence that a dark horse like Murderball won't swipe this one.

I'll post my predictions soon.

As a former student filmmaker, I pay attention to editing probably more than I should. Oscar often doesn't; I'm still trying to figure out how the horrid editing in Gladiator won...

Luckily, since Crash will probably win, I'm happy to say that the editing was one element of the film I though was fairly well done.

Since we both agree on the documentary award this year, surely we shall both be wrong. Enron, come on down! :)

I'll await your predictions!

Shalom, y'all!

Did you survive the shock?

Oh, yeah, though a little cranky for the wear. ;)

I even drug my still-running-a-fever butt out to an Oscar party tonight, and this? It was bad enough listening to Reese's horrid speech while hearing everybody comment on how cute she is.

Feel sorry for the people I work with tomorrow!

Hey, though, at least Uma and Zhang Ziyi were stunning...

Shalom, y'all!
