I'm very glad you are enjoying the Flaming Lips release. Whenever people go on about Radiohead being the *only* creative band pushing the boundaries of rock music nowadays, I always wonder if they've ever given the Lips a listen...

Mercury Rev's 1998 Deserter's Songs is also a very good album in the vein of the Lips (lots of connections there), and even has the Band's Garth Hudson playing some sax.

Shalom, y'all!

I listened to the Lips at my friend's house one night, and I was blown away. They're certainly one of the most interesting artists working today, and I wish that people would give them their due.

Not too many bands finally find their feet on their seventh album and are still cranking out classics on their eleventh. Definitely one of the best bands today and of the past decade.

I'm glad your friend spun it for you!

Shalom, y'all!

I keep meaning to pick up Kill the Moonlight, what's it like, is it comparable to any of the other stuff on there.

Bright Eyes, Hot Hot Heat, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead all don't do anything for me, in fact I really don't get why they're so popular, all three of them are beloved by the indie rock community but Bright Eyes is by far the most detestable of the three.

Whoa, quite the venom towards poor Connor Oberst ya got there. His work isn't at all detestable to me. It is gorgeous, sad, and lush. The alternately delicate and crashing songs are perfect to deliver potent thoughts on love, life, and absolute devastation.

Hot Hot Heat is one of the best pop rock bands out there. Their album is so listenable it's insane. I can't see anything offensive about these guys.

And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead is definitely an aquired taste. I can explain my love for them. Their music is just beautiful.
