N, how do the two Hedwig albums compare?

The movie soundtrack is really polished, and if I were trying to get someone into the Hedwig music, I'd steer them that way. But after listening to that so many times, its nice to hear the Broadway version because it has so much raw emotion in the words, and slight changes in the way that the songs are sung. I like the unpolished aspect of the songs on the cast recording, but the definition of the songs are on the movie soundtrack.

You tease. Purchase two of my very favorite rock albums (in the case of Blood on the Tracks, my very favorite), and then leave no indication of what you thought of both!

So, AAA, what are your reactions to Blood on the Tracks and This Year's Model? Which version of Costello did you pick up, the older Ryko or the newer 2-disc Rhino?

I'm also curious as to whether you enjoyed the Velvet's third album. I am one of those horrible heretics who actually favors it slightly over the debut.

How many Neil Young albums do you have? Harvest ain't bad, but, IMHO, far from his best. Some terrific songs, however, especially if you can tolerate / ignore some of those stringy sections.

By the way, AAA, I'm still waiting... ;)

Well, I know you had to like This Year's Model, as I have seen it pop up on some of your other lists (including Favorite Albums, I believe).

Shalom, y'all!

Who's Next is great as well.

Alright, the attempt to sate you, I will throw you a bone.
I have been working on catching up to some albums that have been repeatedly recommended to me. I still need to listen to some more, but I am planning on writing up a collection of my favorite albums, comments and all. You can rest assured that Dylan will be represented with at the very least Blood on the Tracks and Blonde on Blonde.
As for Elvis, This Year's Model is indeed the masterpiece that I had desired. A wonderful achievment.

AAA

:)

I'm thrilled you loved them both, especially since they are on my top ten rock list!

Shalom, y'all!

White Stripes, alrite! Nice to see all the Velvet Underground. Which do you prefer? My fav is one Velvet Underground 69. Punk albums are good too, love the sex pistols cd, but I prefer Ramones. You like the Clash right? Ain't no one better.

With most of my friends being interested in modern punk, and some even being in a political punk band (The Sprickets, great fun), I enjoy the older punk because I see where everything sprung forth from. Next on my list are The New York Dolls and Television.
Also, as for The Velvet Underground (one of my favorite bands of all time), Velvet Underground '69 has the edge, but I'm also a fan of Loaded.
I own three Clash albums (The Clash, Give 'em Enough Rope, and London Calling) and they are certainly one of my favorite bands.
I'm a Sex Pistols man, but Beat on the Brat and Judy is a Punk are two of my favorite punk songs, so The Ramones certainly aren't stiffs in my eyes.
The White Stripes, The Strokes, and The Hives are what I am relying on to save modern music. Here's hoping.

Yeah I like the Hives alot too. Don't like the Strokes as much...
Television is a pretty cool band...
Yeah those 3 Clash albums are great. You should check out Combat Rock, there's quite a few good songs on that album. Sandinista is also another album that I really enjoy, not totally a cohesive whole, but full of awesome songs. Also, the live album that they released a couple of years ago tops all.

Wow, this list is starting to resemble some critics' top 20 lists! Great stuff!

Shalom, y'all!

Well, I've been trying to catch up on 40 years worth of music history that I've missed. So far, my favorite off of the list are Blue, Exile on Main Street, This Year's Model, all of the Dylan, and The Velvet Underground. As you said:
Great Stuff.

Man... you have some good taste!!! I own the Little Shop Soundtrack as well... I was actually in a high school production of it. I was Ronette. It was terrible :(

Thank you very much! I'm sorry to hear that your LSoH experience was terrible. Alas, I've never had a chance to be in it. Great soundtrack, though.
