Hearts in Atlantis - 8 noms, 2 wins

Alot of these titles in these nominee categories are really good films. this list is a sham.

Aside from A.I., which one's do you object to?

Jblack:
Now jeff, I thought we had a better relationship than that! A sham? I know you like A.I., and I fully understand why, but what else do you have such a serious problem with?
Glad to discuss.
AAA

Well.. i believe Enemy At The Gates, Caveman's Valentine and Hearts In Atlantis all to be very good films. Just my opinion. I knew I would get some panties bundled up on this one.

Allow me quickly to unbunch said panties.
The Caveman's Valentine - not a bad film, actually a semi-interesting story, but the direction was hectic and prentensious. Almost film school quality.
Enemy at the Gates - a bland love story wrapped in a bland war movie, wrapped in a bland premise. Predictable, cliched, and worst of all boring. Jude Law needs a better agent.
Hearts in Atlantis - treakily sentimentalism at its worst. A complete waste of Anthony Hopkins, and a complete waste of celluloid as well.
There, that's my view of those films. I understand why people like them, I just don't happent to.
There, now the undies are all better.

I understand why people like them. Your comments on Hearts in Atlantis don't seem to leave that much wiggle room. Do you really understand why anybody would like it? :-)

Well, I've heard it from both sides. If you remember back in September dgeiser1 and I had a little discussion about it, and I've since had discussions with people about it. They all seemed to like it, and gave me very plausible reasons, I just didn't share those feelings.
But I shouldn't paint myself into a corner and then try to get back out, I just really hated the movie.

Maybe your undies are unbunched. I'm struggling.

For me, J-3 wins worst picture, and I mean big time. That movie absolutely sucked. I'm disappointed though to see Jay and silent Bob in the worst screen play category.

JP-3 is a terrible movie, but I don't think it will end up "winning".
About Jay and Silent Bob, mostly this nomination is an acknowledgment of how his latest movie is quite a few steps backwards from his great work like Chasing Amy and even Clerks. I didn't really hate it, but was severely dissapointed.

Hey Nat, I do like this list here. I' just think maybe Freddy Got Fingered or Sweet November or Tomcats or Josie And The Pussycats or 13 ghosts or Corky Romano or Pootie Tang could have got a glance before A.I. or Hearts In Atlantis got nominated...

What does NKT stand for? Are those your initials?

Indeed, those are my initials.
This is answering your other post. The thing about bad movies is that there are movies that aren't made to be good, and end up just being what was expected. Then there are movies that have pretensions of grandeur, and are totally mediocre films that insult me as a moviegoer much more than the simply bad films that were made to be bad.
Also, I avoided most of those movies. The only one I've seen that you mentioned was Josie.

I have to disagree with your views on Hearts In Atlantis as well Nat. What agreat film, filled with human emotion and the ray of hope that shines through all the recent King adaptations. out of the big three, Shawshank, Green Mile, and this one. I liked this one the most.
