My top five italicized.

Not when you consider that Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Memento and With A Friend Like Harry were all films from 2000.
They had their major releases in 2001, so I consider them 2001 films. They're eligable for 2001 Oscars, so, I consider them 2001.
Agreed on their eligibility for the 2001 Oscars. Amores Perros, however, might not be. I know that it was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film last year. I'm glad you got to see it. Wasn't it good?
The deal with AA's is that a film like Amores Perros can get acting and technical noms, but not Best Foreign Film or Best Film this year.
How bizarre! I had no idea the AA did splits like that. Under what circumstances is a film eligible for some awards in one year, and the rest in the following year?
I believe , that if a film is submitted by a country for Best Foreign Language Film, and its not shown in the US before the next year, that film may get main nominations the next year, but not a nomination for Best Foreign Film, similar to Amores Perros, but I doubt it will get any noms.
AAA, do you know of any examples of this ever happening?
I was thinking about that question after I posted a reply to Jim, I believe this is one of those rules that has never been used, but is there.
I read something explaining this rule a couple of years ago. Now, they may have changed the rules since then, but at that time it was the rule. Just one of the loop holes that nobody uses.
Well, if it makes any difference I asked Roger Ebert's Movie Answer Man. I know he has a ton of sources to rely on so perhaps he'll choose to deign us with a response.
Well, thinking about it, its an odd rule, so, I don't doubt that I will have screwed up some information here.
No cheating! :-) You have "top 6" performances for "supporting actor" and "actress."
Jim, I only see 5 italicized under each heading.
Since he's ranking performances, I would definitely count Jim Broadbent's and Nicole Kidman's double-entries as separate. Same actor, 2 distinct performances. 'Course, that's just me.
Ah, I see what you are saying now! Doh, says me...
You caught me, I thought I might be able to sneak those by, well, I guess I'll correct that. :)
Okay...I just want to know how you see so many movies? I mean when I was a teenager I went to the movies one evening every weekend. Are you a grownup with lots of free time or do you just love movies that much? You must live in a large urban centre to see so many of the lateset movies. Oh well I suspect I am just green with envy.
Well, I am only 15, but I live very close to D.C., which allows me to see idependent movies easily. Also, I am a member of the Chlotrudis Awards Nominating Comittee, which provides me with screener tapes of harder to find movies. By the way, if anyone reading this sees at least ten independent movies a year, I highly recommend becoming a member. The website is www.chlotrudis.org.
PS: I do indeed love movies that much.
Chlotrudis looks interesting, and immediately informative, as I discovered that Hal Hartley has a new movie out, which should at least interest lbangs (who probably already knows about it :-).
Yeah, Chlotrudis is a great organization, I think some people here at Listology would be great additions to the nominating commitee.
