Ah, weren't "Wonder Boys" and "You Can Count on Me" great? I love those movies. Ditto for "Best in Show" and "High Fidelity."
I also agree with you that "Remember the Titans" was really overrated, although I probably liked it slightly more than you do. Not the great movie that some people make it out to be though. I also agree with you on "Meet the Parents" and "Mission: Impossible II", both crappy movies.
I'm a bit surprised you didn't like "Almost Famous" and "State and Main" though. The first was another well-made character-driven drama, similar to "Wonder Boys" and "You Can Count on Me", and the second was a witty Hollywood satire, IMHO.
I'm also surprised you liked "Bring it On" so much. While I admit it was a rather fun guilty pleasure for me, there must've been something more you saw in it that I didn't.
Thanks for putting out this list, I enjoyed seeing your choices!
OK, now I'm really confused. I did a few searches on your profile and found that you gave "Almost Famous" an A-, you loved Frances McDormand's performance, and you said it was an oversight that it did not get nominated for an Oscar. Is it a mistake that it is in your fourth tier? Or do you consider the movies in your first three tiers just that amazing?
That was my first viewing, it has signifigantly dropped in the two other viewings I have had of it. Talk more later...must go to school...fast.
Nice post on a nice list. I had to try another clone experiment. It's here.
