For this list, I tried to include songs that were either (a) representative of one of my moods, (b) representative of a major event that happened to me in my life, (c) especially meaningful to me, or (d) some combination of the above. If you'd rather see a list of my favorite songs, there's a list on my profile.

As there are not currently 20 songs, or in fact, any songs, this list is a work in progress.

BTW, if you're curious about any of these songs' connections to my life, just ask. I'm not sure I'll be able to answer, but it's worth a shot.

3/31/03 - Slow going on this list. I thought about it a lot, but I could only come up with these 7 so far. The problem is that most songs are about either girls or living in the ghetto. As a fairly well-off person who has not had many relationships, it's tough to think of songs to apply to my life.

* - I choose to interpret "Am I The Only One?", a beautiful little song, as not referring a girlfriend, but a very close friend or relative. I've heard it interpreted both ways.

** - I think there are multiple songs with this title. I am referring to the one about a mother watching her son grow up, referring to various milestones of his life. If anyone knows the artist, please tell me.

*** - I feel that some explanation is necessary. I am not trying to imply that I enjoy singing like a girl, but this song has a deeper context about freedom of expression. The singer wants to sing like a girl, and Goddammit, he will not be stigmatized for it.

I have decided to cease construction on this list. I am unable to make a soundtrack of my life simply because my life isn't long enough. If I'm still posting on Listology in 20 years, then I will pick this list back up again.
