Bon jour and g'day. Two of my favorites from this year are Groundhog Day and Remains of the Day. GDay is a rare and precious example of the comedy-fantasy genre, but RDay is a superbly tragic love story. I'd have to say the latter is the better. Several haunting scenes; even some of the small scenes, for e.g. the pre-foxhunt libation scene - that patiently held up cup.

Alaho and Ciao. I should put Groundhog Day in great. I can't actually think of a good reason it shouldn't be.
Saw Remains Of The Day in the theatre and the mucho melodrama had me all teary eyed by the end. The rainy goodbye is a heartbreaker.
But what about My Neighbor Totoro? And have you any comments on The Piano?
