1968

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey - **** Talk about a trip and a half... This is probably one of the heaviest movies ever made, and certainly the heaviest sci-fi flick ever. HAL 9000 is personally one of my favorite movie villains of all time.... a movie to ponder during the wee hours of the morning.
  • Flesh - * This movie was sooo boring!! It is no where near as charming as "Trash" (1970), and drags, and drags, and drags (yawn)..... Skip it and watch "The Chelsea Girls" and tell me what it is like.
  • If... **** This movie just gets better every time I watch it... Rebellion never seemed this cool as in the movie that had Malcolm McDowell's breakout role. Crusaders fight the whips, don't miss the spectacular ending. Whose side are you on?.....
  • Rosemary's Baby - **** Adrien is the devil and also Rosemary's baby.... This movie isn't scary at all, I would say that it's more disturbing than scary..... Rosemary has creepy neighbors, a husband who appeared in "Nobody Loves An Albatross", and the devil's son... Such problems.

Well, for 1968, I would recommend you Leone's 'C'era una volta il west'/ 'Once Upon a Time in the West'. After 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid', 'Little Big Man' and 'The Man who Shot Liberty Valance' my favourite western. The musical score by Ennio Morricone and the performances by Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda are just amazing. A classic. I liked the film very much, even though I'm not really a fan of westerns.

I haven't really seen any westerns, except for "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". I will check into these. Thanks!

Yeah, I always thought it strange that Rosemary's Baby was considered horror, especially when it was released around the same time as Exorcist but isn't nearly as scary. It was more of a moody, unsettling movie, like Day of Wrath or even The Sixth Sense (though there were at least a couple 'jump' moments in Sixth Sense).

Exactly. It doesn't really ever show anything that frightening, but it just creates an aura of menice.

Flesh is really boring, and with the subject matter involved it's an amazing feat. Andy Warhol and his holsters made some really atrocious films.

Yeah, I agree, but you have to regard his movies like they are moving paintings, not for entertainment value. I suggest that someone buy a big flat paneled TV screen and mount it on the wall at their party, and show his movies on it.... the guests will either be shocked or delighted, depending on the type of people they are....

You're probably one of ten people who've actually understood Andy on a level as spooky as that. You could be right, but I'd have to try it...and that might take quite a bit of moral perpitude.
