  • **A precise chiller that covers creeping, atrocious horrors under an uncomfortably placid surface of normality whose story concerns a physician whose daughter has recently died in a drowning and his consuming guilt has caused him to retreat into seclusion…or so it would seem to the ordinary person. Yet inside his uncomforting mansion, away from prying eyes his daughter still lives; faceless and slowly going insane. Trapped by her father and his adoring female assistant as he uses plastic surgery in attempts to reconstruct her face. The calm way such a subject is handled makes the skin crawl and as the director sees no reason to shy away from clinical examination so do the perversly beautiful imagery. An intelligent, complex horror film that’s dominated by tension instead of gore, personified by the unerring sense that something extremely perverse is happening and nothing can be done about it. The helplessness it subjects on the viewer is overwhelmingly unsettling and totally mesmerizing. The topper is a carnival-like dirge that waltzes along with an ominous, sly foreboding.

Everything but the Unfortunately Haven't Seen. I live in a small town (Or to quote myself "If Rapa Nui is the bellybutton, then this town is the butthole) so these movies are usually foreign releases. And I'm gonna see those movies to damn it, it'll just take me some time.

I've seen a lot of movies, would I do it again? Yes. Would I get more exercise in the meantime? Yes. Would I watch Chatter-Box again? Hell no.
