Flying Down to Rio is a real camp classic. That wing-walking sequence is just surreal. Such a funny movie of its time. And it's got Fred and Ginger.

This is a sad thing to admit, but I can't really remember most of the film. I saw it when I was 17 (which was...hmmmm...a while ago) and only snippets of it are lingering in my mind. All I can basically remember is the finale; Showgirls, planes, song and sorta dance all in the air. A exquisite moment, but what the hell happened during the rest of the film. Hmmmmmmm.

17 is probably not the ideal age to see it these days. But it's a movie that can tickle you if you're in a ho hum sort of mood and not expecting much.

As a movie fan I'll have to take another gander just because.

How would you compare The Island of Lost Souls to The Island of Dr. Moreau?

It's so close to the same story that you can hardly notice the difference. "Lost Souls" is the best adaptation because 1) An incredible squirm inducing performance by Charles Laughton 2) The motivations have been simplified which makes the film much more stream-lined and dare I say it, entertaining 3) Kathleen Burke is the best Catgirl 4) Bela Lugosi is amazing as his half beast henchman 5) An air of dread permeats every scene and keeps you on the edge of your freakin' seat. Probably the most frightening still of any of the 30's horrors. 6) Great camerawork, dark and narrowly blocking off the stuff you want to see. 7) Damn, it's just entertaining as hell and worth the hype.

Great! I'll have to check it out for sure, then. One thing I was dissappointed with in the Val Kilmer one was that it was just weird, not intense or scary. And it wasn't all that fun, either.

Thanks!

No such problem here. Enjoy!
