10 songs for weeping

Tags:
  1. "Uninvited" (Alanis Morissette) - beyond any description. Worth being worn as a tattoo all over your back, as I do. A song for your funeral.
  2. "Wake Up" (Mad Season) - the music´s dark, mellow, eruptive at the end; lyrics are depressing, but it´s Layne Staley´s voice who lets you listen to it during a thunderstorm and leaves you with a sweet depression.
  3. "Junimond" (Rio Reiser) - Everyone who´s unable to understand German will ever notice how simple and beautiful german lyrics could be.
  4. "Black" (Pearl Jam) - When you´ve seen the Unplugged-version, you´ll always sing the line at the end which Eddie improvised. "We...we...we belong TOGETHER..."
  5. "Gold Dust Woman" (Fleetwood Mac) - I didn´t almost notice that this was about cocaine.
  6. "Plush" (Stone Temple Pilots) - I´ve known this one since apperaring on my MTV. But 7 years later, I had a last visit by some American friends before they returned to the States and we literally ended up singing this one in my room on a warm night just before they left. Great memory.
  7. "You can´t always get what you want" (Rolling Stones) - I always dreamed of singing this one after a night like shown in the movie "Absolute Giganten"...smoking a cigarette, staring at the sunset of a new day, when something has ended.
  8. "Times of trouble" / "Four Walled World" (Temple Of The Dog) - the whole T.O.T.D.-record can save lives, and I really don´t know which of these both hits me harder...
  9. "She brakes for rainbows" (The B-52s) - it´s just one of the sweetest melodies you´ll ever hear. I think that just the title is worth being noticed.
  10. "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac) - I love the Pumpkins-version, too. You can´t destroy this song, I guess. It´s one of those which you wanna sing for the person you adored all the years. But you´ll never dare, of course.

I think you can listen to a song all alone, all by yourself and you can weep for yourself. But you can also sing them loudly, outside in a warm summer rain oder standing on the balcony with a good friend, staring at the sunset. I think that´s some kind of TRUE power.
