Preference obviously given to roles that appeared in more than one film.

are you only going for characters who apear more than once?
because if your not heres a bunch
Tony Montana (Scarface, 1983, Al pacino)
Sonny (Dog Day Afternoon,1975,Al pacino)
Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver, 1975, DeNiro)
McMurhty (One Flew Over Cuckoos Nest, 1975,Nicholson)
Kermit (Muppet Movies :) ha!)
just incase your not gonig for multiple film characters :) but np if you are
I considered dozens of characters that only appeared in one film, but ended up giving preference to the ones that appeared in more than one movie, and there were more than 10 of them, so maybe I should expand the list and get some more characters in there.
Yeah, thank God they never put women in movies.
;)
I considered dozens of female characters, but there weren't any that were as powerful and memorable and prolific as the male movie characters that made the top 10.
I was keeding!
I dunno, there are a few women characters that I just love. Maybe I'll make my own list.
I know, I know, but I still wanted to explain myself for those who might've had the same thought and not been kidding.
how 'bout:
Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver)
or for the prejudiced:
M. Moto (Peter Lorre)
and the misogynist:
Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone, Basic Instinct II comin' up)
