- Slasher movies:
- 1) Halloween : This should come as no surprise - and with 1 notable exception the sequels are alright as well.
- 2) Friday the 13th: Part 1 is great, part 2 is good...stop there.
- 3) Psycho : It invented the genre.
- 4) Scream : It was so good in it’s way that it killed the genre.
- 5) Identity : Perhaps the future of the genre. It is truly a great film.
- 6) A nightmare on Elm Street: 1 is the best..the others are hit and miss.
- 7) American Psycho : I love this movie. I think it qualifies as well. It is disturbing in some ways and completely believable in the SAME ways.
- 8) Black Christmas: Perhaps the shining refinement on the genre.
- 9) The Shining: Probably should have put this in the Supernatural Horror - but it does qualify as a slasher film...well, axe murderer film - even though there isn’t the body count - it does get the horror quotient.
- 10) The hills have eyes.: I don’t really know if this movie deserves to be here or not. I saw it when I was young, probably to young to watch it and it disturbed me for a long time.

If "Identity" is the future of the genre, then I say shoot the genre in the head and end its suffering right freakin' now.
Glad you liked Identity, though I can't figure out how it's a 'slasher' flick. Identity has gotten so much flack recently it's crazy. I guess people don't like traditional, well-constructed films anymore.
