- 1. Beggars Banquet....The Rolling Stones (earlier than Exile but more powerful)
- 2. The Beatles(white album)....The Beatles (double Beatles need I say more)
- 3. Kind of Blue.....Miles Davis (some prefer Bitches Brew but I'll take the blues)
- 4. Blonde on Blonde.....Bob Dylan (class from start to finish)
- 5. Moondance.....Van Morrison (a true pleasure on every listen)
- 6. Legends....Bob Marley (an unusually well crafted greatest hits collection)
- 7. 40 Greatest Hits....Hank Williams (I know this looks like a copout but you can't ignore Hank's influence on R&R)
- 8. What's Going On....Marvin Gaye (often overlooked but a fantastic representative of the genre)
- 9. American Recordings....Johnny Cash (to leave Cash off any list would ignore his contribution to popular music)
- 10.In Tribute....Diane Schurr (Schurr covers all the female greats, if her voice isn't as good the quality of the recording makes up for it)

Obviously I left off several greats; Sinatra,The Who,Coltrane and others. When I started thinking about the list I tried to cover all types of music that I listen to. No intent to offend just offering my list.

Great list. While I haven't heard Diane Schun, I greatly enjoy your choices. For Rolling Stones, I'd personally still stick with Exile, for Dylan, Blood on the Tracks, for Morrison, Astral Weeks, and Cash, well, I probably would go for an older disc. All nitpicking, for your list is mighty and a distinct delight.
Shalom, y'all!

I stuck to ten because one of my girlfriend's magazines had an article with the same title. I only owned two of the ones on that list, so I decided to list my own "must have" list. By the way I have all of the selections you would prefer.
