- The story of giving up superherodom for a girl, the train-stopping scene, and opening the jacket to reveal the costume are all stolen from classic Superman moments and plotlines.
- James Franco's overacting.
- Kirsten Dunst's terrible acting.
- Doc Ock is just a human with mechanical arms, but Octavius' body is hit with enough fatal blows to kill a yak and escapes with nary a bruise.
- The bank vault contains not cash, but bag after bag of GOLD COINS.
- Doc Ock has to wear goggles because of the fusion process, but everyone else stares at the thing from little distance for several minutes with no problem.
- The raindrops keep falling on my head sequence (especially when the frame freezes on Tobey's face for a moment).

sorry man, I figured everyone had already seen it :-) - but, it's a really really stupid 'surprise' anyway, and not handled well.
