These aren't in order, and they're subject to change at any time without notice.

The Picture Of Dorian Gray is also a favourite of mine.
Absolutely. If I'd put them in order, that one would have been near the top.
Ditto near the top for me - possibly even at the top.   My All-Time Favourite Books
I enjoyed Steppenwolf, but I preferred   Gertrude   and   Rosshalde   by Hesse.
The Satanic Verses is on my bookshelf awaiting its turn.
none of those books are my favorite infact ive never read any of them! my fav nbooks would be
1. The Stand
2. talisman
3. needfulthings
4. the shinning
5 IT
6 midnight in the garden of good and evil
7 the first and second hitchhicker guide books
8 shawshank redemption
9 the tommknockers
10 desperation
Do I detect a slight bias towards Stephen King ? (or am I imagining it ?)
I've read Carrie and Thinner, but neither make my favourites list. I also have The Stand (complete/uncut) on my bookshelf to read.
Lol, I just don't read anymore. I believe I've read a kid's version of David Copperfield in elementary school, and that's it!
What is The Satanic Verses - it sounds intriguing for a fan of the movie 'Day of Wrath.'
Check out these links for probably THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL BOOK in modern times, when the Ayatollah of Iran issued a 'fatwa' (death order) on the author (Salman Rushdie) for the blasphemy in his book. Still in hiding after 15 years, Rushdie remains under protection to this day, although he occasionally appears (unscheduled) on TV chat shows etc.

The Rushdie Affair: The Novel, the Ayatollah and the West by Daniel Pipes   (a book about the book)
It is on my bookshelf to read.   Rushdie is a writer who has won the Booker prize (For Midnight's Children) and other prizes for his works.
Wow.
