You should check out Glenn Branca's The Ascension--one of the most powerful albums of all time. It features some guitarists from Sonic Youth, but is significantly more overwhelming and stunning than Daydream Nation (which is an amazing album in its own right, and among my favorites of the decade). Just be warned, The Ascension is very abrasive and on the first listen or two may appear to be "just noise". But give it a few shots if you don't dig it right away. It has the massive power of a great symphony.
