Proof that "love" songs don’t always have to be soft and slow. Hard and fast can be fun too. ~;^)
Exactly.
Good, solid list. You've got some nice variety here with a lot of great songs. A few suggestions of mine would be the Smiths' "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", the Beatles' "Here, There, and Everywhere", the White Stripes' "Fell in Love With a Girl", and some Todd Rundgren song (maybe "Marlene" or "Couldn't I Just Tell You").
I second "There is a Light That Never Goes Out". It's wickedly beautiful.
I'm gonna be adding 50 songs to the list for an even 100. "Here, There, and Everywhere" came this close to making it last night. But I'm gonna reorder it a bit tonight, so who knows?
As much as I love "Pale Blue Eyes", I think "Venus in Furs" is the best love song by The Velvet Underground. Alternative love, granted, but still...
Seriously, though, I've always thought "Heroes" a touch overrated and actually prefer some of his earlier love songs, such as "The Prettiest Star".
And maybe "Love Song" by the Cure or "Gimme Danger" by The Stooges than that, great job!
