Bowie has many good discs; these are simply my favorites.

The Rise And Fall is my personal favorite.
I'm getting the feeling that you and I may have very similar album collections! Rise and Fall is my favorite as well, with only Hunky Dory (or, counting compilations, The Singles) really coming close.

I have several jazz (Coltrane, Monk, Miles Davis era) cds. I am also a big fan of the Chicago blues sound, but when it comes to R&R I would imagine we have very similar collections.
I'll admit, I love jazz (especially Davis) and Chicago blues, but since I have so many friends with these CDs, I usually borrow rather than buy discs in these genres.

wow! youre dead on right about his top five although I starting to like Lodger as much as Low.The other 4 are certain.
I'm a Bowie nut. I'm especially glad you agree with the albums, since it seems that with the crowds I run in, Aladdin Sane and Station to Station get little respect. I love them both.
Lodger does fare well against Low, as does Heroes.

Hey lester, I can't believe that Diamond Dogs is nowhere to be found on this list; "Chant of the ever-circling skeletal family" is awesome. Go down to Weber's Root Beer Stand and rethink this one. P.S. Made any mix tapes lately?
You'll have to move to England, where all the Diamond Dog lovers seem to be hiding! (I know how much you love Cool Britanica! They didn't produce the Spin Doctors, ya' know!)
And here I thought you were going to complain that I haven't gotten around to CCing Roxy Music yet... Geez...
Shalom, y'all!

Do you have the difficult "Lodger"?
Sometimes that is my favorite, and sometimes its "Low"
I do own Lodger, but I must admit to not being a fan of the album. A few great songs (especially Boys Keep Swinging), but over all, the album as a whole does little to impress me, though I do enjoy Low.

Hey lester,
I just got Aladdin Sane in the mail yesterday. I've listened several times, and I definitely like it, but I've got to give it more time to see what I think in comparison to other Bowie. Low and Heroes are still the strong top two at the moment, but who knows?

PS Why do I still see the absence of that gem Diamond Dogs? Listen to the Chant of the Ever Circling Skeletal Family on repeat for a couple of hours and you'll change your mind; that is, if your mind is still intact by that time.
Ya know, though it still has not earned a position on this list, I must admit that you are right about Diamond Dogs. It is a fine album, and (at your request) I have been spinning it several times lately. At first, Rebel Rebel was about the song I dug, but over time, several of the other tunes (especially Sweet Thing) also continue to pull me back again and again. I'm not sure how much I like it still, but it has definitely moved up greatly in my esteem. Thanks for encouraging me to give this odd album a second chance.
It is enough to start a Panic in Detroit.
Man, is that a song or what? Or do I just enjoy paranoid anthems entirely too much (read: This Year's Model)?
Shalom, y'all!

Speaking of Diamond Dogs, I'm excited about the upcoming soundtrack to Moulin Rouge. Beck and Timbaland doing a remake of the song Diamond Dogs; sounds cool! Based on the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, I think Baz Luhrmann does a good job with the music he gets for his films.

PS Glad you like DD better than you did before.
I think I'm probably the only one that thinks Low is the weakest Bowie album I've listened to
It was the one that had to grow the most on me, and even now, I'm not quite the fan some folks are...
Shalom, y'all!

It does seem like an album that has to grow on you
