Heckler Spray - A Mockery of Journalism

I was recently browsing the internet when I came across a story that I thought might be worth a read so I clicked on it and was redirected to an unfamiliar site. The site is entitled Heckler Spray, it's caption "Gossip for Grownups". It's fairly self explanatory then what I found on the site. The latest celebrity news and gossip as well as some other stories deemed interesting to the audience.

I started to read through my selected article which was about teen pop atrocity 'Cher Lloyd' and it soom became apparent that not only was I reading a very biased article but also a very rude and aggressive one. As it happens I generally agreed with the majority of everything that was said but at the same time I also thought that the writer was overly judgemental and nasty. It potrayed Cher as a malicious, immature little brat and while some may think this is very true (myself included), it was very over the top.

The next disgraceful article I came across was one about an incident in which a stage in Dallas was set on fire during a Rihanna performance. The article was vile and distasteful and while the writer may think they're being witty and funny, it's readers could take a rather nasty message away with them.
"Is everyone in Dallas a massive racist? They like the confederate flag over there, so they must be! Did they have lynchings as well? We’ve no idea. We don’t really like America. It’s a silly country with large portions and impossible dental work."
The above was the opening section to one of the most shocking articles I've read. It clearly labels Dallas as racists but also makes them sound a little barbaric don't you think? I'm no expert on Dallas and its people but I'm fairly sure they aren't all a wild bunch of racist animals. Obviously, if the opening paragraph in an article about Rihanna is racism, her being black will of course enter the picture. The author, who is also the editor of the website, goes on to suggest that Rihanna purposely started the fire in an attempt to kill her fans which, basically, labels Rihanna a racist too. What's more, when I scrolled down to finish the article, I noticed the tags which included "homophobic" and "penis". I personally find homophobia disgusting and I believe that this site is subtly hinting its own stance towards the homosexual community by tagging a word completely unrelated and rude.

The viscious language and discrimination didn't stop there. Being a bit of a nerd I was drawn to a story about mass alien graves supposedly being found in Rwanda, Africa. The article as a whole was very sarcastic but not too distasteful. However, the writer simply had to make an unnecessary attack on Africa and clearly showed no sympathy for the fact that most of that continent lives in poverty!
"Africa is a place known mostly for birthing 90% of the world’s drug lords, 85% of the world’s ruthless village massacres and 100% of AIDS."
This quote made me feel sick to the stomach. It is simply unfair and obviously the work of a cheeky, uneducated moron who has nothing better to do with their lives than attack those who can't help their current situation which is caused partly by the very country that this author lives in. This isn't the only attack made though.
"It’s also known for having hidden, living dinosaurs and really weird, gay monsters."
Ohhh well what do you know? Proof that this site is homophobic? The word 'gay' is used inappropiately as it often is today in this pathetic excuse of an article that could've been written by a 5 year old.

If what I have witnessed on this site is the fate of modern journalism, our future looks bleak, because all I can see in this team of writers is a collection of the world's finest discriminatory, sarcastic, idiotic wannabe comedians who fail to see that their petty insults are just immature, unnecessary and aggressive. The readers of this site could be influenced into believing the rubbish that is posted there and it could cause some serious offence to the groups who are being attacked by these childish scumbags. I have a sense of humour but I don't see humour on this site, I see unnecessary insults that aren't funny, they're just rude.
