Karan's Psikotropik Trip through Psikedelia
Are you sick of cheesiness? Of the rubbish thats passed off as trance? Do you want to hear real trance? Trance that expands your mind, trance that takes you to another plane of being, that takes you beyond into the nether regions of space? Do I hear a loud yes? This mix is for the mind, not for the body. The Voice of Enigma serves as a nice intro, telling you something of what to expect. Doktor Mesmer is not too hard, but subliminal with winding psychedelic undercurrents. Perfect for starting off. Where follow in a similar vein, but the melodies are softer and carry the mix forward. Brain Structure is where it begins to get really trippy and melodic, building yet not getting too fast. Then the mix moves into Trip Tonite which has a beautiful build and simply flows right into LSD where the mix finally reaches a turning point and begins to get harder and faster. Double Dragons has the right balance of acid and melody to carry on after LSD. Then On Mars hits you with its susurating, sibilant, alien whispers taking you into hard dark goa territory. Maia carries on from where On Mars left off and while retaining the style of On Mars, takes it higher and higher. Finally Shakta's Shakti'Shakta with its eastern melodies and rhythms gently brings you down into a state of (hopefully) floating awaresness or something akin to that.
Basically, I aimed for a deep, not overtly acidic intro. Then the melodies build, becoming trippier but not hard and driving. LSD forms the transition between the melodic side and a move towards the hard, driving sound of Double Dragons and On Mars. Maia takes it to the final high and Shakti'Shakta gently brings it down.
After hearing this, you may want to end this on more of a high, then replace the last track with

If you want to bring it down at the end, the replace it with
-Shakta - Absorbed [8:03]

Haha, yeah. Have you heard Angelic Particles? Its just about the most ethereal track I've ever heard. Honestly after I finished hearing these tracks in this order, you'll really feel good. I mean compare this stuff with even good prog. like Xpander and you'll see the difference immediately.
Any suggestions though? I'm not too sure of ending it with Solid Electronics, maybe I'll replace it with a Shakta track like Absorbed.

Thanks for the recommendations but you know my opinion on IM, and they are not what I'm looking for. Shakta's tracks have the mystical, and slightly Indian/oriental flavour I'm looking for. Though I haven't heard Mushi Mushi or Hydrophonix. I'll get them and have a look. I recommend listening to these tracks in this order first, so that you get a general idea of what I'm aiming at. Btw, since you prolly have Solstice, the last couple of minutes of Solstice contain a hidden ambient remix of Angelic Particles. You might want to hear that while you get the original.
Fluoro Neuro Sponge is pretty spacey, but I'm aiming for the deeper, more introspective, and a little darker side of acid and trance. Thats truly psychedelic. Besides 3 tracks by Hallucinogen will get too much.
Mush Mushi is an overlooked masterpiece.
Get that one, it's not at all IM's cheesy new Israeli pop sound: it's complex to the point of being mind-expanding.
On a side note (on your psychedelic experience comment), goa trance is the best psilocybin mushroom eating music in the world. My trip (which involved this music, which thankfully my friends I was with were also big fans of) was completely insane.
I was a court jester in the 1500's (and I could see the court), in a Chinese opium tent (500 BC), in a 90's grunge band, I was a 60's hippie poet, I was in a 20's jazz bar, both listening to the music, and in the band, I was my friend's bed, we were in a post-apocalyptic future, I was a pocket of orange juice in a universe made of orange juice, I was in Alice in Wonderland, I was a hunter in a hunter-gatherer society, I was a baby coming out of the womb...and much more. I saw an 8th colour, felt things I've never felt before, and heard sounds I didn't know were possible. I percieved things 8 dimensionally, and saw the universe in nearly infinite layers, and understood all of them. We discussed philosophy, and came to a series of amazing conclusions about the universe. Every hill travelled up seemed eternal, every time reaching the top, an infinite accomplishment. That only scratches the surface of that incredible experience.
I'm now agnostic (rather than atheist), because I can't yet come up with a neurological explanation for seeing that 8th colour. I'm working on it, but I can't think of an evolutionary mechanism that would give our brains this unneccessary qualia (look qualia up. Seriously, do it. It's impossible to explain here, but it's an incredible concept, and one of psychology's greatest mysteries).
Goa trance enhanced all of this greatly.
Well, I've never been on hallucinogens, Goa Trance is my hallucinogen =] Though I can imagine, Goa and mushrooms must have been an amazing, undescribable experience. Oh, and I'm agnostic too.

Its just a recommendation from my side to listen to these tracks in this particular order, if you want to have a truly psychdelic experience. I guess its like a mix, but I'm not uploading anything. My connection sucks. I got these off Soulseek, so I guess people shouldn't have a problem getting them either. Just get them, put them in your playlist in this order and hit the play button.

Honestly speaking, I was getting a leetle tired of all the serious, nitpicky, genre-anxiously-classifying electronic music discussions over here, plus I was really sick and bored of hearing the same tracks over and over again to decide which fit best, that I decided to release some of that boredom by posting that post.

Erm..overlapping is spelt like that so the characters overlap each other, and glooping because its looping, but since its looping the last letter comes in the front. Err.. and bouncing has the "un" part down, because its bouncing up and down. And no, I have no idea what I was thinking when I posted this, BUT I hope it brings some levity to the serious discussions we have around here =]
I thought there was some serious decoding to do... and I figured out some overlapping procedures. But the last part really did baffle me, and now that you've decoded it with a walk through, it's actually kind of interesting! You should post like this more often. Haha.
Although it might mean a tad bit of a communications break between the two of us. Well, not a break, but more of a complication... since I'd be annoying and ask you to decode every message.
