Author Comments:

Films by Lars von Trier in order of preference

To be seen: 2
- Epidemic (1987)
- Medea (1988)

Need to see again:
- Europa (1991)
- Idioterne (1998)

The Kingdom by Von Trier is one of the greatest films ever, imo. I'd go with Breaking The Waves, then Dogville, then Dancer in the Dark following that. Havne't seen Antichrist...didn't even know it had been released yet.

I haven't seen The Kingdom (yet), but I'd love to. It's not on my 'To see'-list since it's a television series (or am I too strict here?). Anyway, did you like The Kingdom 2 as much as the first series? Still have to see Breaking the Waves (hopefully soon). Antichrist: I am living in Europe and it's out over here.

Watch the Kingdom, it's an absolute essential. Yes it's a TV series but it functions as one cohesive work of art. As for as which is better, I could really go either way. I generally take it in as just one piece -- opposed to being in two (or eight) parts. I mean I don't recommend you watch it all in one setting, that would be overwhelming; but it definitely needs to be absorbed and considered as one work. It's probably his masterpiece, although I think Breaking the Waves is pretty amazing, too.
