- Pseudonym of Rene Lodge Brabazon Raymond. He was born in Ealing, London. When he was seventeen he left home to make a living for himself. After being a travelling salesman for two years, he joined a wholesale book firm. His work prompted him to write his first book which was published in 1939. In the Second World War he served with distinction as a Squadron Leader in the RAF. He also edited the Royal Air Force Journal. Chase did not use a series character although some characters appeared in more than one novel. He also wrote under other pseudonyms.
