Lethal Weapon
Lethal Weapon (1987) D: Richard Donner 117 Mins
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover give some of their best performances as Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh. Funny, sexual, violent, and personal, along with the Die Hard series, completely changed the urban cop film genre. Gibson is psychotic, full of screwball humor, depression, and a very generic back-story. Glover is a loving father to money hungry children, husband to an over- demanding wife. Gary Busey is spectacular as Mr. Joshua, Mitchell Ryan is fantastic as McAllister in an almost Bond villain way. Produced by Joel Silver and Richard Donner who also directed, this film does not disappoint as the start of a great film series, and fictitious relationship and creative world where bad guys are everywhere and cops seem to be able to get away with everything.
