Batman Returns
Batman Returns (1992) D: Tim Burton 126 Mins
Burton follows up his dark and hilarious first film with an even darker and cinematically brilliant movie. His camera work is fantastic. Keaton returns as The Dark Knight, his performance is very good considering the number of psychos he has to deal with. Batman faces off against The Penguin/ Oswald Cobblepot played by Danny DeVito. DeVito is disgusting, hilarious and completely true to character. He’s basically a freak whose psychopathic tendencies and powerful control push him forward into almost being the mayor of Gothom. Christopher Walken plays Max Shreck a psycho killer and ally to The Penguin. Michelle Pfeiffer is brilliant as Selina Kyle, secretary to Shreck, posy and pathetic, she is killed and resurrected as Catwoman. Catwoman is the polar opposite of Kyle. She is a sexy and dangerous and just likes to kick ass in her tight leather costume, she’s explosive. Overall the film was more entertaining than the original but it seemed to me that it followed more of the supporting characters lives then it did Bruce or the Bats.
