Batman Forever
Batman Forever (1995) D: Joel Schumacher 122 Mins
Schumacher takes over where Burton, who co- produced, left off. The film is over the top, taking away a lot of the darkness from the previous two and adding a much larger feel to it. Gothom is huge, the sets are huge, and the money put into it was huge. Kilmer takes over for Keaton, he is cold and his flashbacks and visions give the Dark Knight a personal yet redefined feel. Kidman is intelligent and preety much a whore as Chase Meridian, a shrink. Jones plays Two Face/ Harvey Dent, basic psycho who blames Batman for ruining his face, and somehow has control of an entire gang. Tommy Lee’s performance is very good, but the toning down of the film makes his character sound just cheesy. Carrey plays Edward Nigma/ The Riddler who is an ally of Two Face and is a murderer and hates Bruce Wayne. Carrey is fantastic, and hilarious, he makes the movie. O’Donnell plays Dick Grayson/ Robin, not a great actor, not that bad though. Seems Batman couldn’t handle taking on two villains by himself like in the second film. Overall the film could have been a lot better but the obvious references to alter egos and opposites are brilliant and make the film hold itself together.
